I never did hear if their plan to abandon the corridor and build houses ever progressed.

That’s the implication. Which it isn’t. But if you went at 70 under those signs you’d have a pretty robust defence.

Yes it has. It’s definitely never been NSL!

I think this is them proceeding with the first part of the plan. I don’t see it as cancelling G3 or scaling back the total scheme. They just don’t have the cash to build it all now - which has been clear for a couple of years.

I think I remember some discussion about this. It’s not an official DFI sign. It’s been made and erected by a third party.

It depends how long the judge decides he needs to consider it but a few weeks is typical.

Great pics. Photoshop lifts it a bit.

A bit outside my area. I think there’s a fixed red light camera on the Sydenham Bypass at Dee Street but they’re not common. Cost is partly camera but also tech back end and staff member to check the images.

It would be interesting to look in more detail at (1) did similar jurisdictions like GB and ROI experience the same thing and (2) is the fall uniform across all types of road user or only in certain groups? I haven’t taken the time to look at those questions.

I have often thought about this but can’t pinpoint any one thing that could contribute such a big change. There might be an element of statistical spike in the suddenness. Certainly DFI 15 years ago attributed it largely to ad campaigns. Vehicle safety has also improved a lot.

Future blog post in the series!

It sounds like a routine appointment to provide design services for dozens of little schemes. DFI do relatively little in house these days.

Tim, I love your posts but I’m finding them increasingly cryptic and difficult to understand these days. It takes time to try to work out the point you’re making! 😀

That’s only 25 years away. Possible yes but not certain.
