Poetry, okay. Sounds like an Ifa prayer to me.

Wish I was that cool. But they were friends, and Bowie did deeply admire her artistry and gave her a pep talk once when she was discouraged by all the government harassment: time.com/4176079/davi...

Such an error I made! The song was originally written for a 1957 film and recorded by Johnny Mathis. Nina Simone covered it and then, as a tribute to her, Bowie covered it too. Sorry!

As has been pointed out to me, Nina Simone's version predates Bowie's. But both were covering a song originally recorded by Johnny Mathis!

Yes, I stand corrected! Bowie deeply admired Simone.

And to make it even better:
Trump stole this coat of arms. He's not allowed to use it in his UK properties, because they take this shit seriously.
The arms belong to the family of Joseph Davies, once US Ambassador to the USSR, then Belgium and Luxembourg.
Whose family motto is "Integrity."

One, learning does not consist of parroting a lie. Two, those lies are stollen (sic) from actual learners and thinkers such as myself and other authors. Three, LLMs are a grossly inefficient use of energy and extremely harmful to the environment. How many strikes is that? Yer out!

It is! Though if I was making it myself, would for sure have included Samuel R. Delany, who was actually one of Octavia's instructors. Best intro to his work is Empire Star, a science fiction novella dealing head-on with chattel slavery.

Message I get from spiritual heads is focus as much as you can on art. Get cracking w/the stories, Dan! Also 2 pieces of Bluesky advice: first get a pic for your account's icon. A pic of anything: puke, a blade of grass, anything. Looks less sus. Second, in Settings enable reminder to post alt-text.

Thank you. Forgetting a flight of meds is a fairly common occurrence, isn't it? And at least I know the remedy: wait till next time.

Also, soon as you can, use settings to remind you always add alt-text. That way we low-sighted individuals get quality descriptions of any images you post. Pretty easy to do once you click on the settings gear icon.

Both Aunt Doris and Uncle Milton are deceased. My cousins are/were Jacksons. Shawl is my ex's family name--from Saginaw (or as we joshingly called it, Saggy Balls). Look forward to reading your story! My most Western Michigan is probably "The Water Museum" set in Sleeping Bear Dunes....

Yes. So wrong. And I see signs that the custom is being resurrected.

It didn't have to be legal. Just customary.

I had relatives in Allegan: Uncle Milton, Aunt Doris, Cousins Deia and Joelana. I remember fields full of milkweed and Monarch butterflies. We could share some tales, couldn't we?
