As a lawyer, this is definitely one of the things that drives me the most nuts about reporting on court cases. Like tell me the goddamn case name at least! Most appeal decisions are published on that courts website. Not hard to link.

S-NOw LA. It's snow-covered palm trees here in New Orleans.

Massive complaint filed at FERC by consumer groups against all transmission-owning utilities and RTOs (or at least most of them). Complaint is about local transmission planning. It wants FERC to prohibit utility self-planning of projects greater than 100 kV. elibrary.ferc.gov/eLibrary/fil...

Norway looks like it's going to hit its goal: 100% of new cars sold in 2025 onward will be electric. In 2024, it was 88%. (Somebody should really tell them that EVs don't work in cold weather!)

Tfw congestion pricing makes you so excited that you want to get on a plane, fly to NYC, take a cab into the city, and…whoops, nvm. In any event, long time coming: www.nytimes.com/live/2025/01...

I’m old enough to remember law profs and journalists struggling in 2016 to identify any precedent for SCOTUS’s emergency stay of the Clean Power Plan. Eight years later, it’s major news when the Court *doesn’t* cut the D.C. Circuit in line to block an EPA rule. www.nytimes.com/2024/10/16/u...

DOE has released its long-awaited study on LNG exports. Key finding: In most scenarios, the amount of LNG that DOE has already approved is more than sufficient to meet global demand for decades to come. www.energy.gov/articles/us-...

The U.S. eradication of northern giant hornets (“murder hornets”) is consistent with scholarship suggesting that new technologies may be making us better at removing invasive species. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/18/u...

What do we owe abundant wild animals that pose conservation concerns? How do governmental agencies treat them? It was great to talk on Free Range with @mlivermore.bsky.social about these questions. Blast it on surround sound at your next holiday party: soundcloud.com/user-3119702...

Got to talk to NYU’s Wild Animal Welfare Program about my work—just in time for your holiday weekend viewing. Use it as a palate cleanser between Hallmark movies(?) Thanks to Becca Franks and @jeffsebo.bsky.social! youtu.be/DlieTcv7Lrk?...
