Trump's sold his soul to Satan, but he'll find a way to weasel out of paying up when the time comes.

I *do* want cuts! Does Elon do requests? Let's fire the Airforce One mechanics! Let's get rid of the Whitehouse Secret Service security detail!

Europe needs to unite and arm itself against Russia and the United States, to save both Ukraine and itself. We need a strong Ukraine in the EU, and inside the new European security alliance to do that. Europe's leaders are headed that way, but can they move quickly enough?

Dictators don't hold real elections & magic fairies are not going to come and overthrow your dictatorship for you.

The Venn diagram shows a lot of overlap.

He wants to make him a cabinet member. Maybe evena Supreme Court justice. Definitely clears the bar in terms of integrity and qualifications.

I'm glad to have sold my swastistock. Not as visible as a car, but maybe even more embarrassing.

Tesla WAS really, really, profitable, even if its sales are tanking now, I can't imagine why. So profitable, that he was able the buy the US Treasury, and now has access to unlimited funds. So no need for him to worry about Tesla's fate anymore. Can't argue with success.

It's almost like, if you elect a fcking idiot for president, you don't get very good outcomes.

That's exactly what they expect. And then they will make it out to be Europe's and Ukraine's fault when Trump's concessions don't do what he thinks they will, and use that as an excuse to openly side with Putin.

Be glad these are state charges. Or there would be pardons.

Time for Hungary to exit the EU and join the Russian Federation then. Of you go!!!!

It's almost like he isn't really qualified to be Secretary of Defense.

I'd put 'negotiations' in scare quotes too: Trump was getting his marching orders.

Having the US involved would not be productive. After all, part of what a new Europe alliance needs to do is protect its members from US aggression. Any new alliance should only include democracies, and countries that aren't Russian puppets. i.e. no Hungary, and no US

Yes, there need to be new structures, with an action orientation. Euro & EEA set precedents of variable geometry - let Hungary remain in an empty legal shell and move the real action to adjacent legal structures & only democracies are invited. European leaders need to think big, and creatively.

He's an enemy. Trump is the Americans job to stop, not ours. The EU needs to stand on its own and stop the Russians. We have the resources.

They are sticking their heads further and further up their asses. If they don't see the problem, it will go away. Or at least, become someone else's problem instead of theirs.

We confront the same issue in Finland; it is not possible to learn Finnish in a year or two, if you have research to do also, but no Finnish means being largely excluded (in social sciences - there is more English in natural sciences). Finnish still needs to be the main language, to teach etc.

I think hurting parents and their kids might be the goal.

I'm willing to believe he's as dumb as he looks.

So the logic goes that because the Welsh language and cultural concerns are considered unimportant, the plant must be built, despite the fact that it will be uneconomical. Like saying, the car on sale is ugly and broken down, but I should buy it because the fact that it is ugly is not important.

If you don't know the storm is coming, it really isn't coming, and there won't be a storm. If you warn people about the storm, then the storm kind of becomes your fault.

Have you been paying attention for the past four years? I'll fill you in: basically, the Republicans got away with their criminal actions around the Jan 6 coup. The ring leaders did not go to jail. Why? Because Biden did not put them there. Incompetence or malevolence - I'll go with incompetence.

Yes, without too much concern as to whether those countries want them, whether they'll get on well when they get there (I suspect not), and whether they have a right to stay on the land where they are right now (I suspect they do). Perhaps he can invite them all to come live in Mar-a-lago.

You do need to scroll a ways down the Dog Pics feed today to find actual dogs. Rilla celebrates the good times, while we still have them. She is not concerned with USAID; only with chasing the squirrels around the backyard. Simple pleasures.

He was elected to do stuff, like "defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic". Not to stand around with his mouth open and his dick in his hand.

so if it's "the world's people" in Gaza, I guess the Gazan's wouldn't have to leave after all? Or is he saying they aren't people? I suppose the later.

Apparently, they figure they can manage without air traffic control, so why not go up without weather reports as well?

I don't think euro-populism makes sense. However, take pride in Europe, and support EU leaders to stand together against dictators like Trump and Putin. Far-right parties like AfD are actually traitorous tools of foreign influence - call them out, and steal their mantle of false patriotism.

culturally responsive is listed twice. Just to make sure I suppose.

Let's maybe don't stand in front of a sign that says "retreat" when talking about standing firm. I support the intended message but the optics need work.

Might be a good idea for the EU to kick off its trade war with the US right now, rather than waiting for Trump to choose the moment. It's coming soon enough anyways.

You are welcome back, if somehow you manage to separate from your abusive partner.
comment in response to post
There should be a tariff summit among countries subject to Trumps aggression, and those likely to be subject to it in the near future, to isolate the US and build new trading and defense ties between democratic partners. Don't let the US pick off its victims one by one.
comment in response to post
It doesn't, so it would mean the collapse of NATO, and a shift of Europe away from being aligned with the US, either as a collective or as individual countries. But that's going to happen anyways, given current US policy.

Obviously, Denmark and Greenland will need friends. Fortunately, they have them. Unfortunately, their friends are a little slow to react to danger. Perhaps Trump will be busy dealing with other self-inflicted wounds long enough to allow them to react.
comment in response to post
If the US is really slow about invading, and gives European leaders time to pull their heads out of their asses, I expect Greenland's defenses to increase considerably. Probably with the excuse of defending against Russia and China.
comment in response to post
I think they'll not be really given a choice. They can join the US the easy way, or the hard way. And Americans don't get healthcare, so why should conquered peoples expect better?
comment in response to post
True, but the fact is if they don't fight back RIGHT NOW, civilized society as we know it will end, untold suffering will occur, likely even the end of the world. So forgive everyone for shouting a little bit at the fools who still have their hands in the till, when they should be leading the revolt
comment in response to post
This sounds like a great idea! You should put it in the Trump "Suggestion Box".
