gopls v0.18.0 quietly released a new "modernize" tool which automatically adjusts your #golang code to use newer std APIs and language features! modernize -fix ./... For example: range over int, min and max, slices APIs like Contains or Delete. github.com/golang/tools...

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

Your attention please: it is officially @cleguardians.com season once again

Journalists should report the truth the way this judge laid it out.

This is fucking incredible.

cool as hell

I’m so fucking furious at this shit

Trump’s latest executive order (that was no doubt written by psychopath RFK Jr.) goes after antidepressants. As someone whose life was saved by them, you will pry my prozac from my cold dead hands. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

This is why the Thursday afternoon massacre will not have any lasting impact unless it breaks out of the real news vacuum. It literally does not exist for right wingers.

For the 79% of heterosexual married women whose legal married name doesn’t match your birth certificate or passport, get ready to have your voting rights frozen. Yes, read that again. No, that is not hyperbole. Act now.

funniest highlights of the philly police scanner, a thread

Yeah. Trump knew to do this the night of the Super Bowl. Every healthcare worker, doctor, nurse, etc. working at a hospital (most are nonprofits) that has student debt is enrolled in this. Cops, prosecutors, first responders are enrolled in this. People wait a decade for this. Wow.

If you’re in line to sack Patrick Mahomes, STAY IN LINE

FUCK YOU, MAKE ME

Please remember something: if you had said a year ago that Trump would do even a fraction of these things, you would have been mocked, belittled, accused of “Trump derangement syndrome,” and dismissed by certain people. Identify those people and block and shun them.

"Well, it looks like these pilots from Seattle can’t take off on a sheet of ice, but don’t worry—I’m from the Midwest, so we’ll be airborne shortly.” bit.ly/40OtNAg

These fucking shitbags really, really hate women. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

Who knew Biden could have just stormed into the White House, handed a friendly billionaire the keys to all the federal buildings, fired anyone who might have voted for Trump and imposed the Green New Deal, police, gun and voting reform and Roe v. Wade by force, without barely a peep from Congress.

Can we please remember that very recently South Korea showed us all what we should do when the president does illegal shit

Story time! I finally got my copy of @home-assistant.io up and running at my new place and was setting up integrations. I have a Moen U "smart" shower and apparently it supports HomeKit! This is great because the app is... sub-par (state doesn't always refresh and I have to log in every few days).

The President is blaming the collision on DEI, disabled people, and the former administration as we speak. So, folks (not talking about the poster below) need to stop talking about "politicizing tragedies."

if we staff ICE with Uvalde police officers, they'll never enter schools

@glynnstewart.com So I'm re-listening through Jeffrey Kafer's excellent rendition of your Starship's Mage series on Audible to familiarize myself again before reading Chimera's Fall. Are you guys doing something special with Judgement of Mars? It's the only one not available (Amazon says 2025-02-11)

I’ll never get over that all of this was avoidable and our kids could’ve had a better future had voters just made the obviously rational choice in November. It’s water under the bridge now. But what the fuck, people.

Gritty continues to be a real one

In the space of half a day, the new administration has trashed the Constitution, subverted the independence of the DOJ, granted a broad amnesty to traitors, abandoned the global community on climate and public health, and launched a wide-ranging attack on minority rights.

Whoops, seems I overslept. Went to bed at 4am and woke up at 1933.

174 charged with using weapons or assaulting police. Think about what this says and means. It’s unbelievable

Everything that Trump said and did today -- all of it -- was entirely predictable based on his campaign, character, and first term in office. If you're surprised, you were either misinformed or not informed enough. We deserve everything that's about to come our way. Buckle up.

The White House ordering DOJ to drop pending prosecutions is a breach of the department’s traditional independence that would be an earthshaking scandal under ordinary circumstances.

Respectfully (and I genuinely mean this), I’ve never heard a single regular person ask for “bipartisanship.” That’s inside nonsense. They want things to work. If the other party refuses to work for people, be the ones who will. Fight for people. Make it plain who isn’t, and who THEY’RE for.

This is deeply alarming, as is the provision of the EO that mandates the forcible detransition of incarcerated transgender people. An astoundingly cruel policy that will be fiercely litigated. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

One funny thing is that Trump is almost literally Nicolae Carpathia but 98% of people with the context to understand what this sentence means don’t agree.

The Scottish Sunday Herald TV guide featured this preview of the Trump inauguration. It’s fucking brilliant.

We all knew Trump was going to start ignoring laws when he took office — I just wasn’t expecting that he’d *announce* it ahead of taking office and that the first law he’d ignore would be one he’d pushed for that had been passed by the GOP Congress….

Because the politicians in robes at the Supreme Court only view one amendment to the constitution as sacred, and it isn’t the first

Something the Bible thumpers always overlook. The Bible consistently put the safety and comfort of guests including immigrants as the most important duty of a person. The parable of Sodom and Gomorrah was actually about a city being bad hosts for their guests, not sodomy.
