This comes after intensive pressure from civil-society groups like @aclu.bsky.social, as well as opposition from a wide array of faith groups, including 55 Jewish orgs I've also heard that a number of Dems who voted "yes" have been flooded with calls from constituents asking them to reconsider.

This bill failed to pass the House last week, despite 52 Democrats voting in favor (it required 2/3 majority then — now it just needs a simple majority to pass). I'm hearing that a significant number of those Dems who voted "yes" last week intend to vote "no" today.
