We just launched a 16TB archive of every dataset that has been available on data.gov since November. This will be updated day by day as new datasets appear. It can be freely copied, and we're sharing the code behind it to help others make their own archives of data they depend on.

Worried about losing access to US federal data that may go off-line, or already is? You’re not alone—but duplication isn’t the answer. Many ongoing efforts have already archived key datasets and many more are ongoing. Check out these existing resources and, if you can, support their work. 🧵

For those concerned about disappearing links, perma.cc is a great archiving service.

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

Super excited to see my article with @noahzucker.bsky.social online at the AJPS! The paper shows how bureaucrats can reorient IOs to tackle climate change even when powerful member states are hesitant to do so themselves. We focus on the IMF's attention to climate in surveillance docs.
