Dystopia is the AARP advising older Americans about how to live in a police state www.aarp.org/travel/trave...

Remarkably short sighted. www.fiercehealthcare.com/regulatory/p...

Many at USIP have told me from the start that the reason the Trump administration has gone after them so aggressively is because of their really beautiful building.

This is great, but why aren’t you brining the candidates who are going to be running against these GOP seats in the next election cycle to these town halls? You need to be elevating whoever is running against John James in 2026.

This is fucked. The Smithsonian is potentially in a position to fight this and I hope they do. Unlike organizations like the Kennedy Center and US Institute of Peace, the Smithsonian's board is controlled by congress, not the president (except the defacto board seats of the VP and Chief Justice)

I appreciate the optimism, but this glosses over the real effort and cost involved in swinging back to democracy.

We're living through not a "constitutional crisis" but a "constitutional crash" — the sudden, ER-style flatlining of the healthy biorhythms of our 249-year-old constitutional order. Our national system is dead on the table—can it be shocked back to life? www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/america-s-...

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

I guess the Trump admin is waging war against peace now.

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN. ☎️: (202) 224-3121 Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid. The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING. Call retiring Senators too!

“We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas” - Chuck Schumer, probably

I have to say: Chuck Schumer is a weak man and a fool. This was the one cudgel Dems had. Now it's up to the courts which we new from the beginning were at best going to slow some things down. There's 18 hours left to somehow bring additional pressure to bear. It will be really hard to do that.

A must-read feature (with heart-stopping design) from the @wired.com team: Elon Musk’s loyalists at DOGE have infiltrated dozens of federal agencies, pushed out thousands of workers, and siphoned millions of people’s most sensitive data. What's next? Unleash the AI. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

“America is deeply unprofitable” it’s a country not a B2B startup you fucking dweeb

The 10 Democrats who voted to censure Rep. Al Green: Ami Bera, Calif. Ed Case, Hawaii Jim Costa, Calif. Laura Gillen, N.Y. Jim Himes, Ct. Chrissy Houlahan, Pa. Marcy Kaptur, Ohio Jared Moskowitz, Fla. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Wash. Tom Suozzi, N.Y. clerk.house.gov/Votes/202562

Ma'am, you are a federal employee. STFU.

The fascism is coming from inside the house amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/02/...

The "E" in DOGE stands for efficiency, but is that really the goal? Drastic cost-cutting measures and sweeping tech overhauls with no consideration of downstream effects simply aren't sustainable ... or maybe that's the point 🤔 👉 Read our full analysis here: www.wethebuilders.org/posts/a-tale...

Every week there's some quote from a GOP member speaking out against Trump, but without fail they still fall in line with the rest of the Republicans and vote for the MAGA agenda. I'd love to be wrong.

Vought advocated against the concept of independent agencies in an interview with far-right broadcaster Tucker Carlson shortly after Trump's November election. "There are no independent agencies"

New—Social Security Administration (SSA) Commissioner stepped down bc she wouldn't comply w/ DOGE. Lower-level staffer Leland Dudek replaced her. In a now-deleted LinkedIn post (pre-promotion) shared w/ me, he said he was placed on admin leave bc he "circumvented the chain of command" to help DOGE.

President Trump said he will continue to restrict The Associated Press’ access to his events and news conferences until the outlet goes along with his renaming of the Gulf of Mexico in its reports. He acknowledged that the move was a presidential retaliation against AP's editorial policy.

I am still mad that crypto now stands for cryptocurrency and not cryptography because the crypto wars are back except they aren't because crypto doesn't mean what it used to www.theverge.com/policy/61213...

this is a good example of the attitude that has led democrats down the road to disaster. it rests on the belief that public opinion cannot be shaped or mobilized or moved, only reacted to

We live in the dumbest timeline.

It's a constitutional crisis and a coup, y'all. The longer we hesitate to admit this, the more trouble we are in.

JD Vance... Sunday Morning: The President can disregard the constitution and defy a judge's court order. Sunday Afternoon: How do a Chihuahua and a German Shepherd even have sex?

every Donald Trump cycle: TRUMP: i'm gonna kill the easter bunny FACT-CHECKER: he has not stated how he is going to kill the easter bunny TRUMP SUPPORTER: i think he means he's going to kill evil bunnies TRUMP: *beheads the easter bunny* NYT: trump redefines relationship between bunny and head

If the weather forecasting industry became privatized, it could leave parts of the country without proper forecasting.

Stephen Miller's role in investigating the investigators, as outlined in the EO “Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government,” keeps getting glossed over. It's not THAT complicated. It goes like this: talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-d...

I went down to the CFPB office to see if there were any protests going on. Nothing. There’s a group ~10 employees in the lobby that came in to get their personal items from their desks (since the office will be “closed” this week) and to make their voices heard, but they aren’t being let in.

Vought is giving big banks and giant corporations the green light to scam families. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has returned over $21 billion to families cheated by Wall Street. Republicans have failed to gut it in Congress and in the courts. They will fail again.

Purging dissent in the security services and giving loyalists power is something we *instantly* recognize in other contexts.

CFPB just got a complete stop work order from Vought. Order to cease all supervision, examination, and investigations into consumer complaints. They are attempting to shutter this agency that protects regular people from corporate exploitation.

“Two weeks into a fast-moving coup by a South African tech oligarch, the USA hangs suspended this weekend in a liminal state between the constitutional republic it has been for 249 years and an authoritarian regime akin to Europe’s fallen democracy, Hungary.” www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/white-nati...

Big ups to @signal.org @meredithmeredith.bsky.social for allowing usernames instead of phone numbers last year (signal.org/blog/phone-n...). Washington basically runs on Signal right now and that one change has made reporting and whistleblowing way more private and secure.

🤷🏻

Lauren Boebert’s office literally pays for POLITICO Pro, which tracks & analyzes legislation, and which she is now labeling a part of the “deep state.” We are living in the absolute dumbest timeline.
