While they do have a short position, the allegations in this document are all highly legally actionable (ie. they could be sued into oblivion really easily for making shit up), so I think its unlikely that this stuff isn't true, but the conflict of interest does muddy it a bit.

IME its definitely less than that time frame (for me it's been about 3 years), but I do understand that opinion. I'd personally gravitate towards less specialised stuff; like you can get keypads with knobs that run on open firmware, which means it doesn't require one company to keep it going.

My opinion on these devices is that they're only as good as long as app/driver support lasts. I've been through multiple cute, pleasant and productive one-handed devices for shortcuts, but as soon as I need to change apps or platforms, or as soon as something is incompatible it's totally useless.

It turns out that I like working with time and dates. It's fascinating and fun.

I'm really proud of how much effort I have put into it to make sure it's not like, a move fast and break things kinda deal. I want these data types to *last*.
I implemented my own date algorithms and storage types and extended existing time and date packages a lot for this.

I'm kind of tired of the needlessly combative attitudes of people who seem to have grown up around Twitter, but also folks have been doing this stuff for 15 years so I'm just sort of shrugging unless it becomes more personal. Hopefully in time, folks will get tired of this and work it out.

Viable alternatives to Illustrator for vector illustration that I've tried myself:

Blender is really viable because it successfully embedded itself in its associated industries so companies who made money off of it would invest back, computer hardware manufacturers would provide developers to make sure it ran on their devices, etc.
