Ah the DSA, very representative organization. Definitely captures the zeitgeist. Surely you can learn deep insights into communities there!

“a bunch of cishet white dudebro faux-progressives having a take on what sounds obnoxious is truly the epitome of irony.” I was literally the only person that said obnoxious” This is unreal
comment in response to post
“Obnoxious” is something I wrote You quote something I wrote, then wrote a response Incredible

“filled to the brim with contrarian cishet white dudebros” is just my experience in college an, no, I did not start talking like that
comment in response to post
No, they don’t talk like that because people don’t normally talk like that
comment in response to post
I’m not a “cishet white dudebro” but I take more offense to the “progressive” part
comment in response to post
They do this rhetoric across the board and RW media outlets run away with any clip they can find you moron It’s a *signal*, and someone is critiquing it off of what it *implies* as well as what it is
comment in response to post
Separately, given the current set of Dems, asking that question is basically stupid anyways How about a “we can believe in and acknowledge how racism etc. plays a role in socio-economic outcomes without sounding obnoxious to people” Would be a good start IMO, idk, maybe too risky

You can’t analyze the statement in isolation, obviously the context of the time matters. This same statement is less costly in a different political environment. What’s being is argued is you need to.. get back to that environment
comment in response to post
If people aren’t very political and don’t internalize the process then optics matters a lot This is just obviously true. You can do things and it not matter. Dems already have people viewing them a certain way right now, you’re setting off the wrong signals by doing this
comment in response to post
It’s all so stupid, speaking like this about racism when the black communities in questions don’t even talk like this save for a fraction of elites and college kids There aren’t even fundamental disagreements, it’s a pure rhetoric thing, waste of time
comment in response to post
Yeah, and people are stating what they shouldn’t do. And it’s obvious what they shouldn’t do and if they continue to do this then they are morons

Your initial engagement with him involved posting a picture of his profile and extrapolating off of one sentence If you think Ben is someone who don’t thinks things like racism and misogyny are a problem then lmfao
comment in response to post
People aren’t that deeply political and ideological, act normal and no good policy and don’t make everything into an identity parade and things can actually get done
comment in response to post
Because when Dems outperformed in 2022 midterms and got a trifecta in 2020 those margins weren’t going to do much The senate map is worse for Dems and it’s going to require winning states that are trending red?

There’s also a type of person who would rather spend time unjustly criticizing someone for *checks notes* the way we convey ideas to people who disagree with us (people who are currently in power!) because massaging their moral convictions is better than enacting real change, apparently
comment in response to post
You used the fact that Ben was a white man to dismiss his point instead of only using a substantive argument Do you not see the issue with this, there are people who are not white men who hold the same beliefs
comment in response to post
Do you think Obama was some xenophobic person despite his immigration policy and rhetoric come on It’s an election and people are complicated people who don’t internalize the political process.
comment in response to post
They shouldn’t be doubling down on dumb identity politics when that means making your party win less They don’t even have to change their policies (I mean I think they should but they don’t have to) its just rhetoric
comment in response to post
Surely you have better critical thinking skills than this come on
