No$hu literally my favorite artist out there rn. Modern day Rage Against The Machine. Give him a follow.

We love "Daughters of the Dust" but Julie Dash also made Illusions (1982) about a Black woman (Lonette McKee) who passed as white & worked as Hollywood studio exec in 1942, using position to push progressive agenda. Here, she's with friend whose singing voice is used for a white starlet. #BlackSky

"The New York Times reported last week that the court system in Maverick County, Texas, had repeatedly incarcerated people accused of minor crimes for months without filing charges, and seemingly lost track of some of the defendants in jail." www.nytimes.com/2025/04/04/u...

love when i get to block someone who has been an ass to me irl on a new platform

Gang members should not be disappeared to an unaccountable torture prison either.

using my little shakespeare-shuffler.glitch.me to try and assemble a poem of fragments (edited for sense or sound or feeling). not totally working as a way of making a whole poem, but it’s fun

months ago I wrote in a syllabus that tomorrow would feature an activity called “embracing obsolescence.” then I forgot to prepare anything for that activity. so tonight I am scrambling to charge old cell phones and nintendo 3ds consoles gathered from around the house 🙃

happy tdov from the uga physical plant

The University of Michigan Black Student Union has released a statement on the dismantling of DEI at the institution. "To Santa Ono: You are a coward, and bending to the will of fascists will not save you. To the regents: We see you for the racists you are." Via: www.instagram.com/p/DH1qbq8JpvJ/

jupiter wishes you a very happy trans day of visibility 🏳️‍⚧️

A snippet of poetry from William Stafford for a spring day.

Global Indigenous Horror has been published!!! More than a curated volume, it is a dynamic, experiential journey/ing towards ways of knowing Indigenous h/Horror! @upmississippi.bsky.social www.upress.state.ms.us/Books/G/Glob...

Reading and responding to student writing IS the core duty of writing teachers. Outsourcing it to an algorithm that can't read is choosing to give up on that duty. The fact that teachers are responsible for too many students to do this duty is not an excuse! www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

currently experiencing some cinema

currently reading dorothy dunnett’s the disorderly knights, a book about how warrior monks get horny too

i dropped this one on the dean in our “no more ethnic studies major” meeting 🙃

6 points about diversity, equity, and inclusion in u.s. higher education, with sources. alt text in the following posts.

i created this quick one pager to explain to faculty & administrators that diversity, equity, and inclusion are STILL LEGAL in u.s. higher education. feel free to print & share it if it's helpful www.canva.com/design/DAGi9...

Reminder

“The economics department is one of the few departments that has decided not to stand with the union and instead scab their courses, so perhaps we will all be taking Econ 101 together in a classroom where we can’t even get desk space.” 🔥🔥🔥

So the official position of the white supremacist government is, unsurprisingly, that “race is a biological reality.” Apparently, not believing this is “insane.” Important to note that for fascists, ALL the identity categories (race, sex, etc.) have to be “real” and frozen so they can manage them

Faculty at colleges and universities can also spearhead ICE Watches along with students and staff. Use the Siembra NC playbook.

spent the evening making a one-pager about how dei is still legal. will be handing it out at next week’s faculty assembly :/

sorry but this fixed me

INBOX: A new report from Equality Texas, the Legal Defense Fund, ACLU of Texas, Woori Juntos, SEAT, and Texas Students for DEI says a majority of LGBTQ+ students are considering leaving Texas, and a majority of both students and faculty have experienced hostility. equalitytexas.org/resources/ca...

when schools like mine decide in THIS MOMENT to close the ethnic studies department, it is an attack on civil rights 👇🏼

it’s not an april fools joke 😂 we are still looking for abstracts from contingent and precarious scholars for this journal special issue!!

when schools like mine decide in THIS MOMENT to close the ethnic studies department, it is an attack on civil rights 👇🏼

US universities never took the precarious status of Global South students seriously. As an Iranian I had my bank account closed, I was banned from entry when away for fieldwork, and much more. The university could not be bothered. What’s happening now is MUCH WORSE, but still the same response.

one response to these horrifying ICE kidnappings is “this shouldn’t happen without due process.” but the correct response is and always has been abolish ICE — this is not an entity that should exist period

It is truly sick that universities have preyed on international students for exploitatively exorbitant tuition fees and now they are allowing those same students to be thrown to the wolves with nary a fucking complaint.

ICE has abducted an Iranian mechanical engineering doctoral student at the University of Alabama. thecrimsonwhite.com/120415/news/...

my uni has decided to stop offering majors in women’s & gender studies and comparative race & ethnic studies. I hate it here

I think its time for an escort system. If you are a student who is active on Palestine and who is not a citizen, or if your friend is, you need to walk with them so that if this happens someone is there to advocate and witness at least. This is vicious.

does anyone have a good one-page explainer about attacks on dei in higher education?
