📣 Hey #OERCollective! Community Day program is out 🤩 Tues 25 March hear from: 🔑 Keynote: Dave Ernst, @openednetwork.bsky.social 💡”Diagnosis”: @noraleopardi.bsky.social & Nara Jones 💡”Introducing Scoping & Systematic Reviews”: Karen Pruis & Beth Deans Full deets & reg: tinyurl.com/yckz52za #OER

Have I found the solution to my chronic writing challenges? How do I feel morally about this? How does everyone else feel about this?

NSW Junior Doctors after receiving heartfelt apology by NSW Minister for Health: "They are a vital and valued part of our health system's workforce, and that email fell well short of reflecting that."

I rewatched "Don't Look Up". Pretty funny movie, now I have nightmares 🙃

I don't think people know that making plausible fake videos is now something that doesn't require a lot of skill or time I made this Veo video of a man trying out a flying skateboard at CES from a text prompt, 2nd try. Notice the shadows, green light, his body shifts for balance

Researchers used AI to generate 288 complete academic finance papers predicting stock returns, complete with plausible theoretical frameworks & citations. Each paper looks and reads as legit. They did this to show how easy it now is to mass produce "credible" research. Academia isn't ready.

"The last month has transformed the state of AI, with the pace picking up dramatically in just the last week. AI labs have unleashed a flood of new products..." But I'm ON LEAVE! 😫 @emollick.bsky.social, can you please tell everyone to chill for a bit? I need a break! #GenAI #HigherEd #MedEd #HPE

I'd left myself 21-22 tabs with interesting work reading to do over the break, but I accidentally restarted my computer and the tabs are gone. I'm calling it a sign. ✨ Happy holidays, everyone! 🥂🎄🎁

It's official! Thanks to the superstar team at the University of Newcastle Library, my board game is now available! 🧠 Diagnosis is for everyone, for free, for ever, to adopt and adapt to develop your learners' clinical reasoning skills 🩺 #MedEd #HPE #AcademicSky oercollective.caul.edu.au/diagnosis/

Just had an idea

I actually love the time of the year where almost every email is followed by an instant out-of-office reply. Yes, everyone, let's take a break! Also, this is on your desk now for when you return, and not on mine. #AcademicSky #MedEd #HPE #HolidayMood

A photo I posted of graffiti in Syria in 2014. "One day the war will be over and I will return to my poem" I hope they will return to their poem

Humanities expelled from key New Zealand research funding scheme Scientists from the favoured areas raise the strongest objections #EduSky #AcademicSky #Highered

✨The Festival of GenAI at Uni Newcastle was f-ing awesome!! ✨ Yes, I'm biased because I organised it. 💅 But: 2 inspiring keynotes, 70 people in a promptathon, dozens of solutions to our challenges, & 90 minutes of open discussion... It was awesome. Thanks to all who attended! The time is always now!

Universities do not exist to 'train', produce 'skills' or generate 'impact'. They exist to create new knowledge and teach about it. Any assertion to the contrary is in error, and is destroying everything it touches.

Maybe it's a collective nightmare and we will wake up and laugh at how wild and terrifying it was. Because surely we aren't witnessing a demolition of higher education across multiple countries, right? ...RIGHT?

Holy guacamole... I almost feel exposed in sharing this. Not even my Spotify Wrapped reaches this level of realness. As for the suggestion to start a blog, please watch this space 😜 #NorasCORNER blueskyroast.com/roast/norale...

The pronunciation of our names matter. The spelling of our names matter. The accents in our names matter. Our names matter.

I do not donate to my employer because we are already in a labor for compensation relationship. I'm very confused by these emails.

i am sorry to my gen x coworkers but you have to understand i am never, under any circumstances, going to answer a teams call without a message outlining why we need to talk first

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪

Maybe something about the centrality of the educational mandate of University? Going beyond preparing people to do a job? 🤪 I don't know, I wasn't there. I must be hearing voices...

General question - I know it is early days, but what are the seminal papers about GenAI in education so far? (Everyone is having a crack at it - what has cut through?) #ASCILITE2024

Behold the Project Tracker! A tool to organise/visualise the flurry of projects and initiatives that swirls in my head on a daily basis. This research-focussed version will be expanded to cover more academic domains when I become important enough to be allocated a wall. #AcademicSky #MedEd #HPE

Show me a picture on your phone that has your energy that isn't a selfie

Following the brilliant path charted by @drjot.bsky.social, I am sharing my big L of the year: my application for academic promotion was unsuccessful. I spent 50 hours crafting my promotion application. In the process, I took stock of all the positive impact I have in my institution & beyond. 🧵

Which #literaturereview should I choose? There are many different types of literature reviews in #HPE Scoping, systematic, realist, narrative, state-of-the-art.... the options seem endless! This episode unpacks the decision-making process behind the choosing. bit.ly/PAPERsE74 #PAPERsPodcast

Important question. Should I count my participation in @csiro.bsky.social Chart your Fart as part of my academic research workload? #AcademicSky #OdourlessTeam research.csiro.au/cshw/project...

All I want is a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a raging snowstorm, and Agatha Christie novel, a crackling fire, a kettle on the stove, and a basket of emotional support pastries.
