Nazi comparisons make the dangers of authoritarianism more understandable to the general public. It relates to the tactics used by the Nazis and its ramifications. Examples of these tactics may be found in other historic times, but the Nazis are the most recent and its results the most horrific.

I remember when the MAGA GOP were all screaming about Biden not saving enough Afghanis.

it's amazing how many people seem to have been Men In Black Memory Flashy Thing-ed about Trump's first term

Can’t chant USA anymore, or at least until sanity, the rule of law and decency returns to the country. We are the DIVIDED States of America. Division encouraged by the MAGA GOP party.

Richard Irvin’s ethics problem became obvious during his run for governor.

They will. The question is whether the books will be allowed in red state libraries.

A lot of comparisons to the Munich agreement. The difference is that Britain and France sold out Czechoslovakia to give them more time to bolster their defenses and they naively thought Hitler would abide by the agreement. Trump wants power and money for himself.

Nice but meaningless sentiment. Dems have no power to fix anything. Legally, neither does DOGE. What Dems do need is to develop messaging that clearly relates to how the DOGE destruction harms them. KISS (Keep It Simple and Succinct).

I had one with both House and Senate. It drove people nuts that I would listen to both. Being a Gemini has its benefits.

I was substantive staff, but I watched the approp staff work those long hours.

I remember those days in a conference room playing cards, listening on the speaker box (I suppose those don't exist anymore) and commenting on the parts the agency added and the quality of the gov's presentation. Enjoy.

This is why I'm ashamed of my votes for George Bush. His cowardice silence during this critical time in our nation's existence is appalling. He's been vilified by the MAGA GOP and owes them no allegiance. By sitting in his chair painting, he paints a dark ending to an already questionable legacy.

Always have and as late as possible.

Well said. An answer to a question isn’t always an answer that would provide results or insight. I once asked our IT if they could access x to get y data. They said no. I later found they could have gotten the needed data through an easy work around.

We'll have to ask this typical MAGA GOP politician ...

The sad part about the MAGA retribution campaign is that they win even when they lose. How? They create economic and personal suffering for the target victim even if the action ultimately fails.

American hegemony over the world order was never going to last. It was bound to evolve. Hoped this change would take longer. Further, hoped the change would have us take our place as a strong partner among peaceful nations. Naive, perhaps. Instead, we're devolving into an authoritarian bully state.

Based on removing a cooperator in a government action. I'm not saying its legit and it may not happen, but with Trump authoritarian admin there have been a lot of illegitimate actions.

And the Trump DOJ opens obstruction of justice investigation against Hochul?

As a kid, I believed it. As an adult who is extensively read on the subject, I know this is bullshit. We were a war weary country facing manpower and other issues. The only way we could have defeated Stalin's forces was to use nukes.

Eight years ago, I wouldn't give this a second thought. Now we've seen so many "it can't" or "it won't" happen here moments where it did happen, we've got to be prepared for what once was unthinkable.

Yes, but the need for alliances continues to be an important economic and security imperative. Trump/MAGA is diminishing our leadership role in the evolving world order. Thus NATO will need to reassess its nuclear deterrence needs. I don’t think that would involve each member obtaining them.

She can add it to the list. My focus is on teaching critical thinking, civics and history. Why does she think the MAGA GOP has been attacking education.

I’m hoping Trump craziness will scare European voters to avoid the extreme right. Canada’s liberal party polls have picked up thanks to Trump.
