Nihilism is boring. AuDHD in Detroit. Pretend it’s 2005 and read my blog.

Agreed.

I accidentally made it impossible to access Bluesky on my phone for a week, so I forgot which episodes to watch. I will report back! You’re so sweet to inquire.

I think those programs *were* political. They were designed to educate children that the educational system left behind and/or deliberately mis/undereducated. (I’m not trying to be antagonistic. I love that about PBS.)

I don’t think anyone will think it’s weird! We have Cadieux, which is pronounced the French way, and Notre Dame, which is the American way. Then there’s Marseilles, which is called by either name. It’s not intuitive.
comment in response to post
If you’re in GP, it’s the American way. Probably anywhere in Michigan.

This looks awesome. Definitely something to save up for.
comment in response to post
Woah. I was pretty sure I made that one up.

I am fucking pissed.

<3 Thank you! I’m looking forward to this now

I’ve been wondering where to dive in.

Thank you for sharing this quote. I’ve never seen it before and it’s stunning.

That is, for lack of a better word, some evil shit.

I was surprised to hear it as the theme song to Veronica Mars

Yes! Absolutely! And we miss out on so much valuable knowledge when we do this.

Thank you for decoding that!

That was a lot. Sorry if I went overboard! I got high in the midst of writing this. Pleased to meet you. 🫣

A lived experience is anecdotal and the post-industrial world struggles to find value in things it can’t quantify and thus monetize. And we have this fixation on the idea that someone within a group can’t be objective. Yet somehow “researcher” or “white” isn’t a bias that needs to be mitigated.
comment in response to post
That’s so interesting. I think in both scenarios there is a lot that the researcher could learn but not in a way that conveys sole or comprehensive ownership or understanding of a fundamental truth, which is how “research” is positioned.

I’m catching that they’re trying to make jokes but I don’t understand the perspective so it’s hard to know what the joke is.

Maybe it’s a satire of simplistic reactionary thinkpieces? Maybe? Bueller?

I’m the first case, it’s a feeling of “if they ever get to know you, they will run.”
comment in response to post
Yes yes yes. I call it a vulnerability hangover (I stole this from someone) if I was actually comfortable and sharing. If that’s not the case, I’m exhausted from masking.

Sums up the country pretty well, too.

There has never been a book more suited to me. Thank you!

There is no shortage of useful info on this little corner of the internet.

That makes me feel better. I’ve always just found things through word of mouth, so it’s never even occurred to me. From the journalism side of things, we were told not to name or show faces or people protesting, which led me to extrapolate that privacy is essential to safety. I’m an overthinker.
comment in response to post
IIRC, the police said it was just a coincidence, so we can be extra confident that it was not.
comment in response to post
I think my brain short circuited. Is there ANY good-faith reason one would create a registration list for a protest?
comment in response to post
Yes please! I don’t have a big reach so if the spot could be used to reach more people with fundraising links, feel free to replace me 🥰

My mom says it’s too upsetting, which I presume means she feels powerless. I told her I understand the impulse but also RFK wants to put me in a camp so please pay attention.

It’s just bullshit. There’s no political party for trans people if we don’t vote to protect them.
comment in response to post
There’s this messaging going out that paints marginalized communities like Trojan horses who hitched a ride on a Democrats’ super successful political machine, as opposed to being the driving force for change we’ve all benefitted from.

Cue absolute meltdown if Rashida Tlaib repeats this.

Become friends with First Amendment lawyers, just in case.

This spontaneously arose with a casual friend the other day. I hadn’t “written” with someone in almost 2 decades. Ensemble work is so satisfying.

This is an incredibly stable model and is not biting the party in the ass at all. /s

That’s such insidious framing - people have switched brands. They aren’t redlining.
