you think inflation is bad now? it’s nothing compared to what happened 13.8 billion years ago

thinking about how in japan when politicians & CEOs are caught in a scandal they have to publicly apologize on tv with hundreds of cameras flashing in their face and it’s the most shameful career-ending thing that can happen in your life. and not to oversimplify but i rly wish we had shame in the US

I like when tech companies make their logos less friendly. It reminds us they're not friendly and they don't like us.

Part of my lecture video on basic wave phenomena will be a visualization of Fourier decomposition. I have re-calculated my favorite model for that: A silhouette of Joseph Fourier himself, oriented so that the contours of the face form a curve, built up from sine and cosine curves: ⚛️🎢 1/

@the47thgoat.bsky.social Hey dude, is Trump supposed to be a space marine in your avatar?

I still feel so bad for Harris. This country failed her and we deserve what comes next

Gonna be so much of this over the next four years and all the people and newspaper columnists going on about the bigotry on college campuses for protesting Gaza are going to be completely silent on all of it

This is what a rocket launch looks like from space.

Rest a while

President Leon Musk, our first South Africa illegal immigrant fascist POTUS. What a damn joke this country has become.

the dinosaur that was the best at video games was the segasaurus

This narrative that the Democrats ignored the working class is really aggravating. Be specific. You’re talking about the white working class because the Black working class understood the stakes of this election just fine.

This one’s especially pretty

No change in mission.

Today would have been Carl Sagan's 90th birthday. How fitting that he predicted the current state of our country almost 30 years ago. Worth reading. Happy Birthday, Carl. We miss you. 💙

hey guys, did you know I'm on bluesky? check out my bluesky by looking here.

The uncountable hours I spent reading and watching political coverage and at the end I had no idea what world I was living in, I just thought I did. If I'd spent that time reading about, say, birds, I would now know an awful lot about an awful lot of birds.

I'm tuning out a lot of political stuff right now, and one filter is that I'm not interested in anyone, from centrist liberal to democratic socialist, who doesn't understand the necessity of building coalitions with people you only semi-agree with. It's stunning to me how many people don't get that.

Been mulling this over and it sucks to internalize this, but there are people who heard “mass deportations” and knew what they meant and voted for it because they assumed it would happen to other people and not them. That’s what they voted for: violence happening to other people.

Maybe after 4 years of being destitute and miserable Trumpers will never vote another Republican into office again! Who am I kidding
