maybe im reaching but the 360 era inspiration iss worn on their sleeve and it works. i do hope they lean into the sekiro influence more, by the end it felt too weak

The game has some clear flaws but the loop is so strong they are easily forgivable. Character, story and non combat movement leave much to be desired but i would argue this game is a new subgenre of nostalgia souslite (ill work on the name). A hack n slash that uses souls/sekiro mechanics as combo?

yes, it still has some of the typical Ubisoft issues. Some are fixed (autofollow, UI), some are band aid solutions and of course the mtx/filler/still too long but a big improvement over Valhalla. Dip in during a Ubisoft sale and give it a shot.

I don’t disagree with it being beneficial. I guess it also depends on what qualifies as a “good story”. Does Celeste have a good story? If yes, is it better than SMB 3 because of that story? I’m not sure, but I think both are masterpieces as is

I mean, do they need to have “good stories”? Someone they have more interesting lore, history, etc but I don’t think the games suffer as a result of this

so i dont get gamers these days. the expectation that every game you play with interact with you on your terms is, at best, myopic. thankfully, this is mostly in the fan spaces and not media.
