Honestly I think he's threatened by Waymo's success here with cars that do not look anything like regular cars. He wants people to think that a regular old Tesla can do the same thing but it can't.

In my experience, living in Austin where they've been using us as guinea pigs... Cruise cars are awful, Waymo cars actually seem pretty safe, and Tesla has not even begun testing anything here so for them to say it's going to be up and running in a couple of weeks is pretty scary!
