So, to recap: the suggestion is: the UK creative industries grant open access to all their historic and future work and IP, without payment, to the brains behind a nascent industry that just tanked $1tn in a couple of hours. Sure. Seems great.

Steam construct

Weave -2023 Was doing some more personal experiments with art on the side last year and started a series of illustrations like this one. I'll post more from this collection soon.

Perfect, no notes.

Yes, yes, love it, beautiful, keep up the good work darlings futurism.com/the-byte/ai-...

For fuck sake, writers, STOP USING AI ART. Stop using it on your book covers, stop using it in your book promos, stop using it to show what your OCs look like, stop using it as "inspiration," STOP USING IT. You want your artform respected, respect other artforms. There is no ethical use. None.

So it looks like the crypto AI people have made there way here now and it’s sad

And one last series for the night done for the same show

Some more that were done for a joint Detroit Asian American show.

I said I would share some work so here you go. Lol. Just some personals

eople being like the AI promoters and trying for the quick cash grabs already. Stop ripping people off. The only creatives who should have any classes up this soon are those who got early access and worked with Procraate to develop and test dreams.

i think it should be a bigger story that NYC’s public libraries are now being forced to close on Sundays due to budget cuts while the NYPD spends 95% of the Library system’s total budget to get new encrypted radios that prevent people from knowing when the cops kill people

Instead of sitting & scrolling on my phone last night, I did a little painting of the beach in Kauai, HI. Done with a set of Turner Poster Color on water color paper. Ripped the paper slightly as I pulled the tape off, so I’ll have to wait until I’m home from vacation to edit & post to Insta!

It's no secret that studios are already using AI to diminish the role of writers & storyboard teams in animation, and to flat out plagiarize animation artists & designers without consent or compensation. So I'm glad to see a proactive plan to fight it. Go TAG AI Task Force!✊🏻🖊️🔥

Heck yeah!!! 🙌🙌🙌💪💪💪💪

In DC with the Concept Art Association and The Animation Guild talking to legislators about AI

2023 was a good year, despite it all

"Mobile Suit V Gundam" production history is done! Wow, who knew there was so much to say about this one? Enjoy the back story, staff comments, director's napkin doodles of bikini warriors, etc. www.ultimatemark.com/gundam/produ...

Will be auctioning off a 1-hour portfolio-review/coaching-session again this year to raise money for diversebooks.org. Stay tuned, and please do bid if you can! If you can afford to bid, but don’t need the support yourself, consider giving it as a gift. 💙❤️

Hey Squarespace users! Did you know Squarespace opted you into being crawled by AI bots without telling you? I didn't... #AI #scrapers #bots

#MAIHT3k ep 20 "Let's Do the Time Warp! (to the "Founding" of "Artificial Intelligence")" -- @alexhanna.bsky.social and I got in a time machine and brought back this report: peertube.dair-institute.org/w/8emJezj8JL... Thanks to @ctaylsaurus.bsky.social for production :)

This will get no traction because it's not salacious. But, the Council on Criminal Justice finds no change in shoplifting nationally between 2019 and 2023. The organized smash-and-grabs your cable TV station can't stop talking about are rare events. counciloncj.org/shoplifting-...

T^T. Can have 10+ years of work with nothing to show for it

AI is like a bread bowl. It’s hollow and pointless but the mass public love to gobble it up because they think it’s cool.

Today is my 24th birthday, hooray! ( ´ ▽ ` ) Repost is the best gift for me!

How does unionization work at LA animation studios? Since the studios are already in agreements with the guild, you are automatically a member when you are hired. You must pay an initiation fee and be a dues-paying member in order to work in (most) LA studios.

GO SCHOLASTIC WORKERS!!

Also Disney TRIED. They were making 2D animated films till 2011!! People just didn't want them! Their 3D movies were doing WAY better at the box office!

Been seeing this misinfo going around. Unfortunately, this isn't strictly true. While Pixar is not unionized (and still isn't) 3D films from Dreamworks (How to Train your Dragon) and Disney (Tangled, Frozen etc) are all done by unionized 3d animation workers at those studios.

In my years of being part of higher education, I have not seen any institution truly be student centered. They all like to say it but none are actually doing it.

From Jon Lam instagram.com/jonlamart?ig... “The Copyright office is once again asking for public opinion regarding Generative Ai. Fill out your comment, discuss Glaze and Nightshade, as protective measures have had to be taken into our own hands.” www.regulations.gov/commenton/CO...

LBX FOMO all weekend long

I’d like to gift a FREE, one hour, portfolio review, coaching session exclusively here on Bluesky. 1. Reply with art samples. 2. Random winner. 3. No emails please. I will look closely at every reply. 💙❤️

Oh what words couldn’t, this image perfectly captures

Layoffs cost exponentially more than they "save" on paper (they've done studies!). The brain drain and loss of morale cause even more people to leave, until all the creativity and expertise you actually built your business on is gone, and you start again from scratch. The people ARE the business

What a novel idea—not laying off your staff as soon as a project's over, and letting them cook the next game with all that hard-earned experience, chemistry, and pride. From @jasonschreier.bsky.social's latest Bloomberg newsletter:

Of course. Of course the miracle of AI is a mechanical Turk. Not just stealing art. Humans even work the *boring* AI from inside. And it’s a colonial monster too, exploiting poor overseas labour. Oh, AI, is there nothing you can’t enshittify? TW: dark as fuck. www.wired.com/story/millio...
