Harvard just handed all school and disciplinary records of international students to DHS. Absolutely contemptible. They're putting their own students in danger and lying by telling them that everything is ok. These students could be black bagged to Louisiana or El Salvador after this.

8 of the last 10 first year papers I have marked this morning will be reported for potential AI breaches for suspected use of generative AI. This is SOOOO alarming and distressing

So great to launch our co-edited volume "Hybrid Justice: Innovation and Impact in the Prosecution of Atrocity Crimes" in Sydney (and online). Thanks to all who came, contributors to the book ( @rosemarygrey.bsky.social + @ncamilosanchezl.bsky.social) & @ntinatzouvala.bsky.social for chairing!

Vote for Francis ANU folks ✅

Happy 80th anniversary of Hitler killing himself in his bunker to all who celebrate, which, as I now understand it, is not everybody

It's almost incomprehensible to me that this weird death cult has such sway in the Republican party that nobody is like "wait a fucking second, I don't want to get ebola, what are we fucking doing"

Everything is proceeding according to the plot of Conclave and I am fully ready for the surprise Palestinian cardinal

@ntinatzouvala.bsky.social brilliantly employs Veblen's concept of capitalist sabotage to explain the political economy of U.S. tariffs lpeproject.org/blog/on-tari...

In case that's of interest, giving a talk tomorrow at Queen Mary, organised by the Centre on Labour, Sustainability and Global Production www.qmul.ac.uk/events/upcom...

In many ways these people have the worst of both worlds, which is biological essentialism in an postmodern social environment

Levels of government-encouraged efficiency previously considered impossible

saying that 'Jews killed Jesus' is fine, while saying that the state of Israel, a nuclear power, is killing Palestinians is anti-semitic. Statism really melts peoples brains.

Today, @ntinatzouvala.bsky.social argues that while tariffs have long been used to sabotage foreign competitors, Trump’s tariffs are distinctive in having no identifiable constituency within the US capitalist class. They look, instead, like a way to develop patronage networks across the US economy.

This was a great conversation

"sabotaging the productive capacities of both foreign and domestic firms, while loudly abandoning the USA’s role as organiser and guarantor of the global capitalist order, is a genuinely novel development. Its importance is impossible to overstate."

I wrote a short piece on tariffs, sabotage and the end/s of international economic law for the good people of the @lpeblog.bsky.social. I almost had a nervous breakdown writing this, so you might as well read it lpeproject.org/blog/on-tari...

Let this be a warning to you all: nobody steals my charts and gets to be Prime Minister of Canada

Australia has a media where a Nazi protest leads to multiple articles wondering if they are making a good point. FFS.

a similar thing is happening in Australia. Liberals (which are our Conservatives and their leader is both far-right and the spitting image of Lord Voldemort) have been ahead in the polls for over a year, and Labor might just make its way to a minority government on Saturday.

I cannot BELIEVE that I have come to care about the Canadian election. This is truly the end of days.

I had some stuff to say on the way ICL reduces corporate harm to complicity in atrocity at iCourts breakfast briefing. As decidedly not a morning person, feeling very grateful to people who showed up to this at 8.45:D

Peter Dutton blames immigration, yoga teachers & the CFMEU for Australia's home ownership issues. #ausvotes

Tanya Plibersek’s office sent me a proforma response when I wrote both as a constituent and as a lawyer to express my dismay about Gaza. Australia is not the US, our electoral system is kinda functional, you do not have to vote for the lesser evil.

let the man go be with his horses, his sweatpants pulled extremely high up his waste, and his Nike sliders, as God intended for Balkan men of aa certain age.

Asked if Australia can continue to rely on the United States for defence and national security, 66% of Australians say “no”. Seems like a big deal. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04...

Amnesty Australia rates the parties on human rights. The choice is clear: ✅

abolishing ICE should be the normie consensus position

"Chipmaker Intel announced significant spending cuts Thursday that will shrink its workforce this quarter, months after announcing huge layoffs and receiving more than $7 billion in funding from a Biden administration program designed to revitalize U.S. semiconductor manufacturing."

This is still very clearly the climate story of the week, and possibly the year.
