I agree and disagree. Strictly speaking you are right, it's taste- but then any random picture has value..? It's a deep philosophical question with no answer, but practically we should at least ask the question "is this picture worth sharing?", considering now we can easily shoot hundreds in a day..

I am always happy when somebody takes a camera and shoots, but if there is no struggle there is no art. Everybody starts somewhere, but I see most people just don't push to evolve and just click.

Eventually it boils down to everybody now having the means of shooting, yet most people have no taste, no technical competence and no intentionality. Ofc a snobbish view, and ofc every now and then an untrained beginner does miracles... but overall... it's true in any field, nude is just "easier"..

It is hard to make a *compelling* photo of anything. Most of the photos of "things" (e.g., landscapes) are also generally ugly and boring. People just think nude is "easy" because "yo if the model looks good then the photo looks good". But sunsets are hard to photograph, too. Here's a cabbage leaf.

Sure sure it should be an aid, nothing can replace viewing the photo anyways :-)

Also as you seem to know more: does alt text make sense for an account posting only "artistic" photos? I mean, if you can't see the picture then the description does not really help... or are there conditions where they do see, but the description still helps in contextualising?

Thanks! Yes I am committed to alt text, to the point of setting the "don't allow to post without alt text" option, trying to improve but unfortunately I had the description as a figure and posted like this. Can't edit I fear, so will be more careful..

I think we have a stronger conception of how a naked (wo)man should look like than what a bird should look like🤣 in the end to me it's about motivation: you can take several version of the same picture, because you are looking for something specific -not do it blindly just bc "it gets likes" or so..

Yes, I am also afraid😨I am ofc not immune to the fascination of a simple naked body..this is why the best thing is when someone tells my work is "different" for whatever reason (not better or perfect, just "mine"). Thanks for the discussion, it always helps to phrase what you think about your "art"!

Not sure it works yet, I don't have experience with this stuff 🤞 we'll see!

Of course I dont think I am particularly good, but I put in the effort, and I know this opinion is a bit strong and "posh" 🤷♂️but the more I am on X/IG/Bsky the more I radicalize. :-D

So to me the work is worth if it shows something nobody has ever shown before in subjects (the baltic sea) we saw multiple times. I need to see the artist *and* the model in the picture, and the technique too.
And dont get me started on patreon, OF and "which one is your favorite pic???"
