These demotions are political reprisals

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F. 18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it. We made this website to tell our story: 18f.org

Musk here isn’t simply being stupid. He’s purposely defining Nazism down. The claim that there weren’t Nazis until, in effect, 1939, is ridiculous—but it is an attempt to stop people from correctly calling out elements of Nazism today as long as or until there’s not an actual world war or genocide.

Stopping cyber operations while the Russians aggressively pursue theirs is another unearned accommodation. Historically, Russia banks concessions and pushes harder. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/02/u...

🚨🚨🚨 “Chancellor Olaf Scholz accused Mr. Vance of effectively violating a commitment to never again allow Germany to be led by fascists who could repeat the horrors of the Holocaust. ‘A commitment to “never again” is not reconcilable with support for the AfD.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/w...

More of this, America.

NEW: Democracy Docket is tracking 23 active Trump accountability lawsuits including 3 new lawsuits filed today. Stay informed about what is happening to democracy in court. www.democracydocket.com/me-subscribe...

No surprise, Trump is raising money off Elon Musk's shutdown of USAID. Yeah, take away malaria nets, health care, and clean water from indigent people overseas, and Trump will bring in more campaign dollars. This is MAGA. Have you no decency?

Coup: An unlawful seizure of power from a government.

The world’s richest person, without any actual authority, is infiltrating entire govt agencies and gaining access to sensitive info. And it's being done in an effort to slash federal spending in the name of "efficiency" so America’s wealthy can get another huge tax cut.

35+ Dems plan to hold the Senate floor all night to oppose the confirmation of Musk-Trump funding freeze architect Russ Vought. THIS is how we fight back while in the minority. (via @schatz.bsky.social)

an important column. This won't revert back to normal by acting like its normal. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/o...

The Senate has confirmed Trump's HUD nominee Scott Turner, who has advocated for increasing the private equity industry's role in the housing market. These corporate landlords are one of the biggest reasons why you can't afford a home.

We are going to see political investigations and prosecutions. The question is whether the public, the courts and the media will recognize and call them out as political. Will they stand up against them or will people stay silent and allow them to continue.

Senator Raphael Warnock ahead of the vote on RFK Jr. for HHS Secretary: "I simply do not trust him to oversee the CDC. He's unqualified, and I dare say that everybody here knows it." BOOM! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

"The goal has always been clear: destroy functioning government, cripple the nonprofit sector and obliterate the hard-earned bonds and benefits of 80 years of post-war American progress." @guitarwatson.bsky.social www.democracydocket.com/opinion/trum...

NEW: Trump used the last four years to turn the GOP into an anti-democratic war machine — and he is not finished. If we are to preserve democracy, we must take the threat Trump poses to our elections literally and seriously, writes @marcelias.bsky.social.

The revenge presidency is on: “the genesis for the firings was Trump himself, according to 2 people directly familiar with the matter & a demonstration of Trump’s unchecked power as he implements a new order where the justice department is answerable to the WH” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Trump's appointees have wielded federal regulatory authority to punish outlets the president dislikes — and American media moguls are responding with submission.

I agree, but we are already seeing it happen. There are currently: 84 voting and election cases pending in 39 states. 19 redistricting lawsuits. 19 lawsuits challenging Trump's illegal actions. Anyone interested, should check out Democracy Docket. www.democracydocket.com

NEW. It’s an all-out war. Trump, Musk & MAGA are trying to destroy the US gov’t. and democratic governance. Are the Ds up to this battle? See the latest issue of my OUR LAND newsletter. link.motherjones.com/public/38456... Sign up for a FREE trial subscription to OUR LAND at davidcorn.com

THIS is how you communicate, folks

Serious question: can the president just spend all his time in office suing people and then use the litigation as a "legal" way of accepting bribes via "settlements"?

and yet, at the moment he’s golfing

It is unconscionable to hold disaster victims hostage as part of a scheme to pass massive tax breaks for billionaires and wealthy corporations. Let me politely articulate our position to House Republicans. Get lost.

Like others, I fear the threat of government retribution, political vengeance and an angry right-wing mob. But I know that giving into it will only strengthen Trump and undermine the future of our democracy. Trump wants us to be scared. He wants us to give up — gradually and then suddenly.

"Republicans have set an example, and Democrats must play by the exact same set of rules once used against them. Every tool, even those we might otherwise oppose, must be used to stop or slow down the confirmation of Trump judges."

The MAGA bunch coming to the inauguration are learning that the billionaires will be warm, cozy and inside while they’ll be ignored and left out in the cold.

Trump’s pick to head OMB Russell Vought says he wants government employees “traumatically affected” and “to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains.” Targeting our nation’s public servants is wrong and dangerous.

This morning Jeff Bezos' Washington Post gave its approval for the Senate to confirm election-denier Pam Bondi as Attorney General. Compare corporate media's assessment of her to Democracy Docket's. Then decide who you should read and trust. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Project 2025 contributor and right-wing lawyer Hans von Spakovsky outlined what President-elect Donald Trump and several federal agencies should do to roll back voting rights. Here's what you should know.

“Rather than fear that the opposition is weakened by these Americans who are bending down to Trump, they are saving us time by telling us that they are not up to the fight and we cannot count on them.”

@gtconway.bsky.social is obviously right. ABC was caving for just one reason: to kiss Trump where the sun doesn’t shine — and to do it in the ignominious glare of light, with a legal case ABC was bound to win. But that would’ve pissed Trump off. So public humiliation was required. So sad.

NEW VIDEO: After months of playing politics--and only after Trump won--Republicans agreed to a bill that would create new federal judgeships to help alleviate case backlogs. I'm glad President Biden will not reward GOP gamesmanship. Watch and share. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2F9...

Litigation over congressional maps is far from over. Here's what you should know about the ongoing fights for fair districts in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and more.

“The more worrisome costs of media-mogul acquiescence to Trump are the quiet decisions of owners who think: Is it really in my interest to beef up my news teams right now? Why chase scoops about the new administration when they might put a target on my back?” www.thebulwark.com/p/the-real-s...

Democrats refuse to learn their lesson. Refuse to take generational change seriously. Refuse to spotlight the party’s most effective communicators.
