We talk about it in the clinic on a daily basis. I never thought I’d be arguing with insurance companies, I never went to school for that. We’re just figuring it out as we go. On Friday I had 45 patient calls. I spent 3 hours on one patient trying to get a drug approved. I don’t have that time.

I’m so sorry to hear this. As a nurse I deal with this all the time. When an insurance company rejects a med stating it’s “not medically necessary” your doctor (or nurse) can file a letter of exception. If that fails they can appeal it. It’s a process but one I do for several patients on the daily.
