Everyone deserves the opportunity to have children or preserve their ability to have children in the future. Fertility care shouldn’t be a privilege for the few—it should be a basic right. #NationalInfertilityAwarenessWeek #NIAW25

Comprehensive insurance coverage can ease the financial burdens that may influence reproductive choices. When care is affordable and accessible, patients can make decisions based on their needs—not their finances.

Improving pregnancy outcomes is critical in a landscape where nearly 25% of U.S. counties lack sufficient access to abortion and emergency pregnancy care (which can be critical for miscarriage management). For Black women in these areas, the consequences of delayed or denied care are compounded.

Making these services affordable is also about safety. More accessible care can lower the risk of complications like miscarriages—which can have life-threatening consequences, especially for Black women who often face racism & mistreatment in medical settings.

Comprehensive fertility coverage can help mitigate these barriers—removing financial obstacles & increasing access to crucial care.

These barriers are even more severe in the South, where Black women are more likely to face reproductive health care shortages, lower wages & higher rates of being uninsured.

Black women are nearly 2x as likely to experience infertility—but face significant barriers to receiving timely diagnosis or treatment. Conditions like uterine fibroids & endometriosis that can contribute to infertility often go undiagnosed or untreated due to longstanding inequities in health care.

And these numbers don’t even capture undocumented workers, or the millions providing unpaid care. We can’t afford more harm to this vital sector — our families and communities rely on it.

Immigrant women make up 20% of early educators — and with an even higher numbers in cities like New York and Los Angeles — and are just as vital in long-term care, making up nearly a third of home care workers and 21% of nursing home workers.

We must address these disparities and push for policies to make sure every woman has access to the health care and resources they need. Learn more about these policy solutions in our policy brief. nwlc.org/resource/whe...

Living in areas with multiple deserts has a compounded harm on maternal health, mental health and economic stability. These inequities have profound and life-threatening effects. Every woman deserves access to resources and care regardless of their background or where they live.

Deserts create environmental conditions that negatively impact health. It’s no surprise that the absence of reproductive care, nutritious food, and reliable internet access results in poorer health outcomes.

Black and Latina women are overrepresented in abortion care deserts, placing them at higher risk for poor health outcomes. This only worsens racial disparities in both maternal health and reproductive care.

The ongoing lack of care and resources only reinforces a cycle of inequity, worsening health disparities. Abortion care deserts exist in almost half of U.S. counties, and pregnancy care deserts affect nearly 40%. The absence of vital services increases health risks & limits options for women.

A desert is an area lacking crucial services such as abortion care or other pregnancy care, or resources that impact health like nutritious food or broadband internet. Over 41 million women in the U.S. live in such areas, and nearly 7 million reside in counties where two or more deserts overlap.

If every parent could veto what’s taught, public schools would grind to a halt. We’re fighting for inclusive and accurate education because equality belongs in every classroom.

All students deserve to see their histories, families, and identities reflected in the classroom. Black history is American history. Indigenous history is American history. LGBTQI+ history is American history.

This is part of a larger censorship campaign threatening to push marginalized students and families further into the shadows, erasing entire communities from public education.
