would love if RPGs/games with character customization showed your character doing the implied traveling during loading screens and allow menuing during it too. Sitting in a cart during fast travel, walking down the stairs to a dungeon, holding onto a handrail on a train etc

Hey #Pixelart #gamedev, The Steam hardware survey stats for 2024 are in - they give a good insight in this years primary monitors. If you make pixelart games for PC, you should opt for test your game with 1920x1080 (55.98%) and 2560x1440 (19.75%). With those 2 cases you cover 75.73% of user cases.

That "indie" is where innovation happens generally isn't true anymore. We iterate to breakthroughs. At large, indie is more risk-averse & homogenous than it's been - publishers gatekeep, focus on graphics, and balloon budgets. Innovation comes from self-published games launching their practice game.
