It does make sense in that MVP never has had a strongly set definition, but intuitively Russell was the most valuable. Whereas Wilt sure looked like the best center (and player) a lot of years, but despite that, no one ever was as valuable as Russell.

They can't afford the basketball penalites. No team can for any extended period.

That's a good summary of the options for this offseason.

It doesn't sound like they'll be rushing into surgery with Jaylen Brown, and will give him a few weeks to rest and evaluate the situation. As I understand meniscus tears, sometimes they can heal on their own.

Welcome! Post more! Go hoops!

What an article.

It is possible for people to follow basketball or take part in other hobbies without diminishing their support for democracy. For example, I like to cook. Today I'll cook a nice meal, and still maintain my unwavering love for democracy even as I add in the spices. It just takes concentration.

Brandon Ingram leading the return package doesn't quite make the Bucks impulsively scream, "Let's do it!"

Financial Stat: A couple of days ago when Microsoft was massively up, Steve Ballmer made enough money to buy both the Clippers and the Nuggets. That was in one morning. This expense doesn't even register for him.

Everybody's about .500 in these games.

A trade of one of the starting five seems both probable and painful. Tatum won't be traded. Probably not White. Maybe Holiday due to age, Porzingis due to fragility, or Brown due to making the most and getting the best return. Winning another title makes it harder to justify.

That's a good point. Celtics fans were angry when Doc bailed, but I think Bucks fans would rejoice.

Good one Sean. That's surprising.

The Mavs are steadfastly moving in a direction, and they're confident in their stride. So there's that.

If it happens, Giannis would likely have say in the trade, in which case, why would he go to the Nets? I get it's New York, but that would be a hopeless basketball situation, wouldn't it? The Spurs on the other hand. Wemby and Giannis would be the most elongated frontcourt ever.

Maybe Jeff Bezos is reassessing the decision to forbid the Washington Post from making political endorsements.

That's an interesting and fun stat.

The trend is positive.

I thought the story of in the game was rebounding, a 15 point difference from 3, the contrast in positional versatility, and an outstanding game from Jaylen Brown playing on an injured knee and filling the void with Tatum out.

The Knicks are a good team, but a lot of their fans do overrate their talent. They can put great offensive players and strong defensive players on the floor. The problem is, those are not the same players, so there's always an exploitable weakness. Also, they're softer than last year (iHart).

It's ok to pile on the Mavs. It would not be unfair to do so.

The trade was so unbelievably bad that every time any Mav honcho talks about it, they just dig themselves deeper. Mark Cuban was a long-time dedicated owner, but he really screwed up selling to Dumont. And yes, fire Nico.

Yes. Brown has a knee issue. Last year he was healthy. That's a big difference. ??
comment in response to post
Huh. Not that anything else needs to be said. But there's a lot not being said.

I hope not to rattle anyone with these types of thoughts, but I have been wondering about Brown playing through this, as the traditional remedy for knee pain definitely is not, "go play basketball."
comment in response to post
Why in the world was he not resting the knee for the past few weeks?

For Boston, it seems like the incentive to sign someone just for a tradable salary is likely off the table since the Celtics can't combine salaries without becoming less second aprony. Anything could happen though- Davison, Peterson, mystery vet, or leaving the 15th spot open.

That's a great article Marc.

Yes. Fire Nico. Also, remove the ownership.
comment in response to post
Very good article. Thanks for that. I have a question Noa: Would Brown REALLY not benefit from rest? I'm no orthopedist, but it seems counter-intuitive for him to play through knee pain. Maybe you could ask someone close to the team about this.

It happened. Phillip Wheeler just rejoined Maine.

Rush him down to Florida for the Maine Osceola game.

Do you think Davison will get the promotion to the 15th spot on the Celtics before the NBA season ends?
comment in response to post
Being only Pritchard height, continuing to improve the three is critical for Davison. If he does that and plays adequate defense, he'll be a real player.
comment in response to post
If anyone else asked question, I'd say, "Keith Smith has probably got one."
comment in response to post
I prefer to be more positive and think of it as the best tanking stretch we've ever seen.

I hope the mystery team defeats the Grizzlies.

Considering how that injury looked at first, doubtful is good.

Beyond Davison, Peterson and Norris, Maine has several good players at about the same level. 1. Enaruna and Scrubb both have made a lot of progress this season. Do you think either will get a 2 way with the Celtics next season? 2. Do you think Davison is a Boston Celtic next season?
comment in response to post
Chisolm's way to become a good owner is simple: Let Brad Stevens do his job. If he does that, the Celtics will thrive. If he doesn't, they won't.

That's a great interview.
