Where I work (healthcare) they have to go thru HR to get in, need to be escorted by security, show their warrant, and security calls legal to meet them. Not surprisingly, we haven’t had any issues.

It’s infuriating.

Fascist men make hard times; Hard times make normies crazy; Crazy normies elect the craziest non-fascists; Craziest non-fascists create . . . I dunno, PROFIT maybe?

He will seriously brag about it till the day he dies. So for the next, like, 30 years.

It’s both deeply ignorant and recently, um, influenced, in a particular way that aligns with myopic self-interest—which is always the sole directive. It’s an amalgam of totally-wrongs.

This is a wonderful exchange. I will add, having worked around plenty of attorneys (state legislature), a former lit prof might be especially attuned to absorbing the subtext.

I think Van Hollen took a risk yeah but Karla still makes a strong point. The target audience for the MAGA show loves to see an “uppity” minority brought down—both figuratively & literally. These officials started by taking a PR risk like CVH, and ended up incurring physical risk.

Everything is complex by nature of the world being complex but a nice thing about this political moment in American history is that the key question is very simple. This isn’t complicated

To be clear, LA *county* is nearly five THOUSAND square miles. The footprint of LA city proper is ~500 sq mi.

Can you or @cwarzel.bsky.social please verify this remains the current curfew zone in DT LA snd that it’s just one square mile (approx.)? I feel like I might hear some misinfo at work soon and need to steel-man my corrections with sources. lacity.gov/highlights/c...

It's straight-up surreal that O'Keefe's first passion was song & dance, and his fallback option was fake guerilla investigative journalism that caters to the most gullible audience demo in America.

Answers that begin with "All I know is" and pivot to separate incidents/issues are refusals to answer the question.

Fair. I'm speaking hypothetically. I want Cuban on here. I want (and see!) people talking healthcare and business.

Yeah I support Don's larger point here but more people overall need to admit they've been wrong/rude/presumptuous and move on. This includes "influential" people saying, "Derp, I was very wrong there" as much as it does wee folk copping to being unnecessarily rude.

Retribution. He used that world repeatedly. Wasn’t in his vocabulary 4 years earlier.

This is a longtime American Legion hangup, for some reason.

Yeah I think he’s doing his Idiocracy-riffing (“Y’all like money?”)—like with the origins of his “no tax on tips” thing.

I hope good-faith media will be able to preserve geographic & demographic scale in their reporting. Sadly I doubt it.

Serious Q: When has a "wealth exodus" occurred in the U.S., say, post-1950? Are there real examples? Conversely, I don't recall American wealth rushing to Kansas during the Brownback Experiment.

My wife, who trained in dance acrobatics (and really doesn’t know anything about baseball besides what I impose on her), once said, in response to a wall catch + injury, “they don’t know how to fall.” 🤷🏻‍♂️ Clarke knows how to fall. Insane body control, not much time to measure, 400’ from launch. WOW.

“I don't know any accounts on twitter calling for genocide besides burner accounts […]” Anyone here who used X can find you such an account on demand.

This is nonsense. I muted a guy who said M. Yglesias is a “fascist.” That’s the most internet-brained thing I’ve seen on here. Twitter is not just Nazi posts. But every reply set is topped w/ blue check guys whose own feeds do casual Nazism.
