100% When most of the adults/system tells kids learning doesn’t matter, it’s hard to blame them for believing it. Adults who do try, though, are then treated like the problem. It’s so frustrating.

I might print out a copy of the state standards, hand them to her and say, "You have to show proficiency of these standards to earn your credit. Have a look & propose a project." Because... I cannot be a 1:1 tutor for MONTHS of material! GAH!

Some ask about Medicaid, so here’s the key distinction: undocumented immigrants aren’t eligible for it. That’s what makes this even more disturbing. The people targeted were lawfully enrolled, and their data was still handed over. Medicaid is only available to U.S. citizens and certain qualified
