The people in charge of your city’s streets care more about making it easy to drive fast and park for free than they do about your safety and quality of life. There is nothing they will not sacrifice on the altar of motorist convenience. This is true everywhere in America, even New York City.

I have a work trip coming up to Chicago, and when discussing traveling from the airport to downtown, everyone was discouraged from solo cabs, Ubers, etc. Someone suggested we hire vans. I pointed out that the L goes directly from the airport to the hotel to crickets.

Fascinating stuff about West Hartford zoning at Noah Webster House - note that there's been practically zero growth since 1960ish, commercial districts were zoned all over town, and we have the oldest zoning dept in CT. I also appreciate the point that there's no more space for SFH's
