Yeah...some of the Lost Stories really should have stayed lost...

I hear you! Decided to limit my Kindle to the odd comic strip / graphic novel and Star Trek novels pre Discovery, spending no more than Β£2.99 at a time. Every other book on my Kindle will be gradually replaced with a paperback. Weening myself off the convenience of Amazon Prime will take longer.

If we are renaming our coastal waters, can I put a late bid in for The Wash to become The Bay of King's Lynn? πŸ€ͺ

Got both - thanks! I'll message soon as I've done the payment.

Can you try sending a DM again please? I was being spammed on DMs recently and blocked everyone. I've reversed that now...🀦

If you could send me a DM with details I can sort out a payment in the next couple of hours when I get home. Thanks!

This. Exactly this. I held my nose and tactically voted Labour last Summer (swayed by the fact that my MP was Liz Truss), despite being disenfranchised by them since 2010. With hindsight and certain 'policy' announcements indicating a lurch towards the right, I won't make the same mistake twice.

And...(there's more)...special mention to the scene with Stewart in beret and eye patch trying to outdo the late great Gordon Kaye and failing miserably. That was...painfully unfunny. In short..Season 1 was just...meh. With all that said..the Riker/Troi scenes in "Nepenthe" were great. 3/2

Mostly Patrick Stewart's decision to play Picard without a scrap of the authority or morality that made the character during the TV show's run. They could have told a morality subplot of an aging hero facing death and the need to pass on a legacy...instead we got a cop out for poor writing. 2/2

Lemme see...the poor pacing, the inconsistent storytelling, the plot holes, the lack of "Trek" - a lack of optimism and a complete lack of utopian ideals, the unnecessary violence, the f-bombs, shoddy characterisation, interesting characters criminally wasted (Zhaban and Laris - plot hole!) 1/2

Oh I'm too old and too cynical to put anyone on a pedestal these days. Far less to embrace any cult of personality. But what I am guilty of is being naive in believing certain journalists still had some sort of integrity. Today I learned I was wrong about that.

It really isn't it and no he doesn't. Two questions. Should I ignore the independent's article which confirms Mellinger was employed as Starmer's voice coach for FIVE YEARS from 2017, which is being ignored in favour of painting a narrative of faux outrage over a meeting in December 2020? 1/2

Can't decide if it is incompetence, cowardice in the face of a RW media or contempt for the electorate running through the veins of the Government with all the recent announcements. Currently thinking it's all three.

I was going to say the two Opium wars the British Empire fought with China over flooding their country with our Opium for profit...but that was just shameful and deeply immoral. This as you say is just stupid. Bigly. Which makes me wonder where the hell we should be looking while it's going on...

We screwed over a generation of young people with Brexit...with leaving Erasmus...with the handling of COVID...and now Labour wants to be seen as intransigent when there is a chance to partly fix the damage? I figured it would be a year, possibly two before I bitterly regretted voting for them....

A hat tip to you (and @unamccormack.bsky.social for sharing) for this article. A reminder of just how god awful the novelisation of TMP was (I'd almost forgotten..), but also the revelation (to me) that @diane.dianeduane.com's Rihannsu novels went beyond the two I read way back in the early 90s.

There comes a point where politicians playing it safe and appeasing the rw press start to look to the public like politicians too craven to deal with the problem...and end up getting a bloody nose off voters in the May local elections.

Not weird at all. The way things are right now we all need a brief escape from reality - mine as of last year is Skyrim on the Xbox 1. (Admittedly my hand / eye coordination is pretty shocking these days to the point that even the Dragons are starting to take pity on my Dragon born...🫣)

Just think : In a parallel universe we might be enjoying the trinity of hardboiled detectives in print - Sam Spade...Philip Marlowe...Swirly Ploof...πŸ€” And frankly I'm amazed no one has yet suggested as a book title "Swirly Ploof takes the lead" I'll see myself out. πŸ™‚

Somebody should remind Labour they won the election and they can drop the sodding Ming vase now.. Do what's best for the country, not the appeasement of a right wing media.

Perhaps one day another seven year old will sit in front of that piano, tentatively placing their fingers on the keys. Perhaps they will play a few notes and the spark will light that was lit for your dad. Be proud of yourself for giving that child the opportunity. I'd wager your dad would be. πŸ™‚

No worries. There's no denying it's going to be a long hard slog for her with Vodafone, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for her. Oh, and I'm sure she has probably thought about this already, but contacting any Direct Debits that go out...and maybe getting herself a pay as you go phone temporarily?

One more thing: obviously I don't know Martina and I'm loathe to cause her any more stress and anxiety by just dropping a post directly in her feed...but I would urge her to check her credit files. Just in case.
comment in response to post
In particular (if possible) the exact time Vodafone logged Martina's old phone and SIM as stolen and the exact time the new one was ordered. Also, what contact details have been added to her Vodafone account. It sounds like she did everything right. It might take Vodafone a month to do though.
comment in response to post
I would urge Martina to contact Vodafone and submit a Subject Access Request on EVERYTHING recorded on her Vodafone Account from the date her phone was stolen to the day her bank account was cleared out. Call logs, notes from call centre staff, fraud team (if possible). All of it. 1/2
