Cities should not have to go cap in hand to fund transport improvements. Give them tax raising powers. greenwichwire.co.uk/2025/06/11/d...

Yes sorry didn't see the second bit 👍

Is there not a case for a new river crossing somewhere between LBB and Gunthorpe? Those people travelling from Arnold, Mapperley, Carlton to Radcliffe, Leicester etc all get funnelled through town currently no? I get the "one more lane" argument etc, but there does seem to be an issue there.

I'm inclined to agree, although not sure they'd be able to use 'mass transit' money for it.

Yes HS2 made it very sensible. I did hear some talk of eastern tram line heading out via Racecourse P+R then over the river to Gamston. Could be interesting.

It'll be really interesting to see what the #England fans think of the facilities next week.

That's good, it's a good bus. Someone should be taking credit for implementing a better bus, not acting like it's a magical craft sent from the future.

Another side of it is that buses are great as they are, they don't need to pretend to be anything else. More buses and cheaper tickets.

It may well solve a problem for certain places, so maybe I shouldn't have called it all crap. But being constantly sold something worse than what exists elsewhere in smaller cities as a huge win is getting pretty boring.

Absolutely not an expert either. From what I've read/listened to and seen of the Cov version, it looks like the same capacity as a single decker bus, whilst requiring lots of engineering even to do the shallow rails. You have to wonder why it hasn't caught on worldwide as leading transport mode?

Seats in the station, sounds a bit extreme!

Still a lot of "we've only been in a year, don't expect us to do anything" coming out of the EMCCA 🙄

That'd be a great use. Birmingham and Leeds feel like far off lands via public transport. Crazy.

😂 I like the 200° one. Definitely got a ring to it. Have to add 'in association with Caffe Nero at the end though.

I read a piece from EM Business Desk the other day about Broadmarsh, it did not fill me with confidence. On one hand it was urging pragmatism in design as we aren't attractive, on the other it suggested hanging gardens on the side of the buildings with a vertical watering system administered by NCC.

The 'should have fixed the potholes' bridge.

This also adds insult to injury.

Tram is the dream, for now the lack of frequent service is what kills it for us. Half an hour is a ridiculously long wait.

Also, for £3 a go I want more pram spaces @nct-buses.bsky.social

So our group then had to split up, I'm now in town with a massive bead on from power walking in. It's no use demonising driving if zero viable alternative is provided. #nottingham should be leading the country on this stuff given #cn2028 commitments. A generous 3/10 for NCC, must try harder.

Nobody's ever seen anything like it.

The things he's done, including "tunnels underground" that have amazed Trump.

He repeats the transgender mice thing 🤦‍♂️ and $20m for a Middle East Sesame Street. This is not a drill. #usa

Nottingham is horrendously underbounded- it’s a similar urban area to Sheffield in terms of population but over 50% of that population live outside the city’s boundaries. I wonder how much that this fact has impacted growth and services in Nottingham over the years. Hopefully things changing soon!
