Deer mice - very common especially in rural areas.

I'm pretty sure the 'freeze' part is just how the dry the beans - the product isn't frozen for storage. Like this one (just a quick example, there are others out there): www.harmonyhousefoods.com/Freeze-Dried...

Search for "Freeze Dried Edamame", I think those are unroasted.

And yet, my DEEP admiration for the people of Narita Airport remains because they got us on the plane... Running through the airport, being handed off at each step of the way to a new handler, politely asking us to walk fast, radioing ahead to let the next one know we were on the way. The best!

Ebay. Take good clear pictures, including any damage, be painfully honest about what you see, and what you know, and realistic about pricing. Do some homework on what all the parts are called, and how fountain pens are listed in the titles. Spell things correctly. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

When I visited China none of the merchants had money - not paper, not coins... Everyone but us was using electronic transfers... Had to wait every time we made a purchase for our change unless we had the exact amount due!

Same boat as you - waiting to see if a shipment of scales is tagged with the tariff... And all of our bolts, screws, nuts, washers, come from China, and although it's a small part (ha ha, pun intended!) of what we manufacture, it adds up fast. Oh, the stupid repercussions from this!

1957 Faema Velox wall mount espresso machine - not the oldest thing we have around though...but maybe the most complex machine we still have in use! Our microwave is only slightly younger.

No thank you, we need to get rid of the ones we have - we don't need anymore of them!

By the rules in the EO V.R. wouldn't be a citizen (if applied in 1985), correct? His parents came to the US in 1985, he was born August 9, 1985, so she was pregnant when they arrived in the US. Neither was a citizen, she must have been here via a 'temporary visa', therefore, not a citizen?

If law enforcement wants to enter your home, unless you consent, they need a JUDICIAL warrant like a search warrant. And you'll notice cops with search warrants don't ask permission. If ICE needs your permission to enter, they don't have a judicial warrant. They have an administrative warrant.

Not a doctor... It's my understanding that emergency contraception, like Plan B, yes - over the counter, no script needed. Mifepristone, and Misoprostol require a prescription. Check with planned parenthood - there's one in Pullman, WA, two in Spokane and one in Missoula.

Rural: We go to town 1 time/wk, 32mi/RT, do most of our shopping. 1/mth we go to the next town past that - 54 mi/RT. We go to the 'big town' 1/qtr 90 mi/RT & we shop bulk. The description is misleading - it's not $2 ONLY, and not just 1 loaf of bread! Some in the west are MORE rural than we are.

A lot of how I think of "North Idaho" vs southern or central has much to do with time zones, and road access - White Bird was the 'entrance' to the southern half of the state, so the marker for me. OMG, drove that road every other weekend for a year while I attended school in Moscow.
comment in response to post
I always think of anything north of White Bird Summit as 'north', not central

Agreed! We still have Calendula blooming a bit! Haven't seen any of the bulbs come up yet, so that's good.

Same here in N. Idaho - we've had less than 2" so far this season! Weird...really weird. Messes with my 'what month is this' time tracking!

Yes! That's it! Funny how such a simple thing, as your post, brings back to mind such lovely memories of my mom. Thank you!

Can't remember the name of it, but there was a cafe around the corner from the Cigar store that mom used to sometimes take me for lunch when I was a kid...

The effect on e-commerce will be horrendous. 99% of our shipping is USPS. Going to UPS or Fedex or whatever the new 'mail' system is, will likely double the cost (and be passed on to the consumer)!

It’s a non lethal deterrent technique called fladry. You can read more about it in my book 😉https://bookshop.org/p/books/pests-how-humans-create-animal-villains-bethany-brookshire/18330279

Look into fladry, which is roping with bright tape/ribbon streamers. It’s not foolproof but it can help. Here’s an article: wildlife.org/with-some-mo...

We have coyotes - not a 'big' problem, but you mentioned to put up flags - what kind of flags? I'd love to tell the local coyotes to flag off, but need more info!

The corner of the UI campus is 0.9 mile from the border! It's just 'hang a left at the corner and straight on to morning' :) In truth, back in the day (oh, 35 years now...) I knew some fisheries students, & the reputation of the program was top shelf. But, it's a decision to consider carefully.

As for Idaho in general - you don't say what your child's original status was (& I'm not asking), but DO keep in mind Idaho now has some of the most egregious women's healthcare (abortion) laws in the nation. Pullman, WA is near, so that's helpful & they have a PP clinic there.

So far, they haven't made much inroad in the local gov't. And, day to day interactions with people aren't bad, ie, the kids working the restaurant are nice, polite good workers, & don't 'push', you just kinda know they are part of the grp. They are making headway starting & owning many businesses.

Overall, the UI area can be welcoming, safe, etc. Be aware, there is a presence, continually growing, of Christ Church Theo-bros, led by Doug Wilson in Moscow & surrounding areas. They are fairly easy to ignore... Use common sense, avoid situ where confront' is likely, & they'll be fine,& welcome!

Well done Newell family! Things like that really DO turn up - around here, occasionally, Nez Perce artifacts - Mocs, bead work, bags, clothes, show up in old trunks, suitcases, etc. Sometimes they get returned to the tribe, sometimes they end up in someone's 'collection'. The tribe is better!
