The literal wealthiest man in the world donating hundreds of millions of dollars to a presidential campaign and getting rewarded with a government post where he can award his companies with contracts is the most cartoonish possible rendering of what people warned about after Citizens United.

And let's not forget the chief enabler of this rubbish in the EU: Von der Leyen. Her policies and political deals gave credibility to the far right and validated their nonsense, for a political advantage that never materialised. Her presidency has been absolutely awful.

It's obvious what he said is just spin doctor-written nonsense to bolster the European far right. What they call "European values" are nothing but a mix of xenophobic drivel, white suprematism and invented traditional values. If these were really the values, I wouldn't want to call myself European.

The very fact that this government has attempted to get this through with what is, in effect, a parliamentary slight of hand, by amending guidance rather than including as legislation, shows they know it would be challenged, and defeated. It shows they know they are fundamentally in the wrong. 10/10

I've seen numerous people, including supposedly serious journalists, overjoyed at Bellingcat losing its NED and USAID funding, seemingly unable to accept those two organisations don't fund Bellingcat anyway.

4. This is bad full stop. It creates a class of person who are forever excluded from civic life no matter how long they live here. It's also a a clear breach of the Refugee Convention. And it will also, just as clearly, have zero deterrent effect. It's totally pointless in real-world policy terms.

9. The new government claim to be taking international law seriously. Doesn't look like it.
They claim to be competent not theatrical. Doesn't look like it.
This is a terrible policy change and should be reversed.

I don't understand, we criticise people for not assimilating & now we are going to permanently exclude them from becoming citizens & force them to always be different? Yep that's really going to help.

Ciao Isma, grazie per i circa due anni che hai giocato in rossonero. Prego per gli altri 3 anni in cui passavi da un infortunio a una Coppa d'Africa. Spingere per andarsene è stato un gran tocco di classe.

Not sure why every story on this subject doesn't lead with Trump firing people responsible for air safety

Another way of putting this is that people move. They always have and they always will as they need. National borders can't stop them & economies cannot do without them
We can either pretend that we can stop people from moving with the "right" policy or devise a system that respects mobility.
