The worst part of having a cadaver lab in the evening, is that I have to stand around poking at bodies for 3 hours while I’m hungry

@asm.org this better not be anticipatory obedience. I have 5 lab members planning on going to ASM microbe this year. I will absolutely pivot to another meeting if ASM gives in to anti-DEI efforts.

Real ones remember the time a species moved entire domains from archaea to eukaryotes

Microbiology will always be one of the most satisfying fields of natural science. Nigh-infinite levels of biodiversity, perpetual room for novel findings, and an evergreen requirement for the advancement of human civilization. 10/10. Big fan. Would recommend. 🦠💪

Here are some nice mushrooms

Other than Marburg, Prions might be one of the most horrifying things talked about in my Virology lecture. The image of the brain becoming a sponge is disturbing.

The French Revolution was not kind to The Aristocats…

The Liberal Party of Canada ran a number of poor campaign in the 50s and 60s, but their worst were probably 57’ and 58’. In 58’ you have a campaign filled with hubris and disconnected from the concerns of people outside Ontario. Meanwhile in 57’ you have the PM cracking a kid’s skull open.

Simpler times. Newspaper clipping from 1906.

I recently finished The Rise of the Golden Idol, and I have to say Color Grey knocked it out of the park with their sequel. Great puzzles, stunning visuals, and a sense of dread and tragedy as the full truth is revealed. Greatly looking forward to their next case early next year!

"I'm sorry I said you're not a model organism"

Sometimes you have to remember what you find interesting or cool is not universal. I once told a friend excitedly about my first time visiting a cadaver lab, holding an Alzheimer brain and poking at adipose tissue, meanwhile they just stood there with an expression of horror on their face.

Anytime some monarchist tries to argue “monarchy isn’t that bad,” just remember the psychotic late Han emperor who cooked people into giant meatballs as a dinner show.

Got the opportunity to participate in a sympathy exercise where we simulated hearing voices. It was a truly effective and enlightening experience on part of the difficulties with schizophrenia. However I can’t get over that this is essentially what I was hearing.

As a bonus, here’s a really cool picture of John Diefenbaker, on the 65’ campaign trail.

Thought I’d try out this site and see how it goes. Just a list of some general interests. -Pharmacy -History, particularly Canadian as of recent -Strategy and puzzle games -Medical Ethics -Creative writing -Communitarian Philosophy
