At least we know the buyers will honour the spirit of the business.

Fantastic list of books in the comments of this post. So many I'd not heard of that my wallet and my book backlog are already wincing. Plus just tempted to go re-read some dragonlance for the pure nostalgia of it.

Wow the start of that second paragraph. Sadly does appear the case in the USA. Popped to new York at the start of the year and really felt like a go see it before it becomes unsafe to go n

The Labour government have today announced the following for Wales: * the largest real-terms funding settlement, worth £22.4bn a year * at least £445m for railways * £130m to support businesses * £580m for Port Talbot and Tata Steel 1/2

On Facebook, there is a live "Ballymena Reaction Group" page saying it is a "war" and which has over 2 days posting information to direct attacks, issuing threats, and asking mobs to exempt some houses. It has 4.8k followers We urgently need to Make Facebook & X Lawful Again

I am fascinatingly tired today, and chat with chums about how teen me crushed on Dragonlance has made me want to read something in that space. Recommend me high quality pulp fantasy books you love. To orientate where my head is at: my initial response was to check what David Gemmel I've never read

The fact the leader of the opposition opened a question in PMQs with I am getting better at this surely is a desperate sign of where things are? Why would you engage with Starmer on this topic and not just ignore it! They're your questions to use.

Thought I'd give Critical Roll's new Daggerheart campaign a go (as limited length means I might actually keep up) But my god the number of ads! Feels like I'm getting an ad break every 5 minutes- can't watch 3 hours 40 minutes of this.

Department budgets will increase by 2.3% in real terms, on average, following this spending review. The Tories first spending review cut spending by 2.9%. This is NOT austerity. Labour ARE different. #SpendingReview2025

I think we can all agree this is a very strong argument in favour of reducing the number of podcasts....

Not true. I see you're a luxury watch dealer. I'm also interested in watches. Let me show you how free and easy migration has allowed you to earn a living. 🧵

Can't wait for the Times to have this on their front page.

What power have they given away apart from interest rate setting in 1997? The OBR has no power - governments can and do change fiscal rules all the time.

As a child, hearing someone say 'It's Mufty Day' as you arrive to school in full uniform.

Honestly, feels like I've not played a Hideo Kojima game for too long. May be time to take the plunge on Death Stranding.

thought this was really beautiful

So out of curiosity I looked this up- and David Bull never got past being an SHO (and appeared to work maybe 3-4 years as a doctor) I'm nearly 10 years working as doctor and I wouldn't in any way claim to be an authority on how to solve the problems of health in the UK. #medsky

Tomorrow is the big day: Rachel Reeves announces how much gov departments have to spend over the next 3 years. This is a critical moment for public services like the NHS, police & schools. But what's the *starting point* for services? Team IfG takes a look at performance and it's not pretty: 🧵

The whole Mexican flags thing is a re-run of Norman Tebbit’s cricket test in the UK. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket... White tenth generation US liberals pushing this line should fuck off. You can love your new country without being forced at lib-point to forget you came from somewhere else.

Grab the first major expansion to Orbital Blues with Afterburn and get yourself an expanded catalogue of ships, additional rules for having a rad time rather than a sad time, and enter the Tennessee Five, an ambitiously sprawling sandbox setting for your new favourite Space Western RPG!

You who I call voters How could you have come to hate me so? Is this what you elected? Then let my heart be hardened And never mind how little the UK grows The red lines are so I will never rejoin the EU Kier Starmer- spoken in the style of Ralph Fiennes

Interesting thread and enjoyed reading all the posts today about the lack of a writing around video games. A curious thing from my perspective is I do play a lot of games but rarely read or watch content talking about them. In contrast- I rarely play TTRPGs but read loads about them.

Papers Please but set in a hospital trying to figure out who does/doesn't need admission and what medications can be stopped safely.

okay today we're doing the fun type of quote posting game: What would *your* computer game look like?

Very helpful maths. Now we know the half life of a reform councillor we can simply isolate the affected councils until they become an inert force.

This guy thinks he's in some kind of manifest destiny/animal crossing country. And once he moves somewhere the Sherrif will just give him a few acres of land to set up his tomato farm. Also, as we know nothing bad happens if you grow the same crop on the same patch of land.

Firefox have really escalated the browser wars here with this move.

Man, what did Tite Kubo do to his fans?

Ouch

Been thinking about this today. In terms of games I've played recently- Citizen Sleeper both for it's a style and because of how evocative it is. I can't know but feels it does capture the experience of a person trapped within/between the system. In terms of older games- Metal Gear Solid 2+3

To be fair, I feel we see that revival after every Easter Sunday.

For some reason the first thing that popped into my head on seeing this article

I cannot tell you just how quickly I went from learning that there's a new all-you-can-eat Lasagna restaurant in Shoreditch to booking a table there at the earliest opportunity: www.hot-dinners.com/London-resta...
