A monkey in an apes world. Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

He had now contracted full “Lagondaitis” as he called it & filled the spot with a lovely 3l which even my mother loved. But he wasn’t done and many years later swapped out the 3l for a Bentley designed V12. His pride and joy! So when he died my brother & I each took on a Rapier and the V12 was sold.

Much to my mother’s dismay he acquired one Rapier and then another, building a double garage to accommodate the second and placate my mum by still offering her the use of the third space. But we think he already had an ulterior motive for that large new garage.

Alas life moves on and family demands meant he needed to get a more sensible mode of transportation but his desire for these machines of the soul remained. Another marriage later and I’m in existence and he happened to be staying at a hotel where the Lagonda club were meeting.

Nice link! Overestimating our eastern neighbours… history repeats like a bad takeaway.

This book was an interesting read, it was quite the operation and really showed Stalin what the west was capable of post WW2. Things would be very different now if we’d let Berlin fall into his hands.

Bristol Pegasus powered Short Sunderland’s were also used during the Berlin airlift. They were ideal as they could land on the waterways freeing up valuable airport space and they were suitable for transporting salt. This was a dietary necessity but it would corrode other aircraft’s components.

It’s a handsome jet, and looks fucking cool when dropping fire retardant!

The Bristol designed Aeralis modular jet is rumoured to be a potential replacement for the Red Arrows Hawk. The Red Arrows first aircraft was the Bristol Siddeley powered Folland Gnat which I’m currently reading about.

Aerospace Bristol’s newest addition, more to come. The 1:1 first mockup of Aeralis’ modular jet. The display is still a work in progress but you can add your input over the Bristol and Welsh half-terms before it’s finalised. #aviation
