Only if you’re an incumbent that sucks. If zohran actually does freeze the rent and make buses free, then he can certainly run in affordability for re-election. The reason incumbent establishment dems have trouble running on policy is that they don’t want to do anything when they have power.

There’s a lot to dissect if you focus just on the <$50k/year cohort. What percentage of those are elderly people on a fixed income? Maybe zohran’s economic message doesn’t resonate as much since they don’t have child care costs, they already get senior metro cards, etc.

It also shows that Zohran’s message is resonating because if you’re a family making $105k/year, NYC is still deeply unaffordable.

Yea, nurses and union plumbers make over $100k. This is 2025, there’s inflation! NYers making $50k+ go for Zohran.
