I like cooking and Liverpool FC, dislike autocracy and intolerance. Very fond of my town, Sacramento (more trees than Paris!), and gin. Not a fan of Christian Nationalism or Cybertrucks.

Commitment. You gotta start with believing in your product, policy, candidacy, whatever and committing to moving it forward.

I was a direct report to a manager who was universally reviled at every level in the department. He had me write my own annual performance review (pro tip: don’t EVER agree to do that) and returned it to me with every positive adjective or attribute deleted. I refused to sign it.

I appreciate your insight. I have another interpretation, would love to know what you think: Everything about the parade was as the Army ordered it. The focus on history, the boring-ness, the relaxed marching all detracted from making this a show of force in honor of a tyrant. Mission accomplished.

Speaking as a Californian… his daily briefings during the peak of COVID crisis were immensely informative, reassuring, and calming. It was worth tuning in at noon every day.

In answer to your question: Some of the people in those houses are black or brown. Same with the people that work or shop or eat or recreate in Santa Monica.

That was astonishing. I started listening and couldn’t stop. Thank you for sharing it, and your story, and the ways you have chosen to use it.

What part of “flood the zone with sh!t” is unclear? Of course it’s all happening at once and it’s impossible to focus on each or any one action. That’s the plan.

I’m confused. Tens of thousands of people live and work in that perimeter. Including 1,000+ unhoused. When 5:00 rolls around, workers get to sleep at their desks? Is this a mass evacuation? Or shelter in place? What a cluster.
