It's wild. Looking at those numbers galvanized me to get a 15-year back in the day. Pay 10% more a month to save 30% overall cost and halve the interest costs.

I suspect some are afraid of retribution or further attention if they don't.

That's helpful, thanks. I took my first pass at genai for code last week. It was small and I had to bug fix the javascript (why is every variable const???). Did likely yield a net speed boost for the poc, but I'm not sure I'd trust it past that. (was just generic request, so this might be better)

Do you have a read yet on if it's generating something that could be production ready or only a poc / alpha that one would need to rebuild

Do you want another set of eyes or hands for this stuff?

We've been talking about this a fair bit recently... it's an important part of living thoughtfully writ large.

I also think this is one area where STEM differed for me growing up from what most people experience- I was able to concretely connect the math, science, and computer science together to understand the world better and actually DO things. So perhaps I'm the odd duck out here.

It's not surprising to me to see a lack of connection that the general population has between that detailed concrete history and current events- is it taught deep enough and how possible is it to make those connections in secondary school given the political implications? (or maybe I am/was dense)
comment in response to post
It's now possible for me to make these connections as I've done some "deeper dives" into the topics, even if through pop history treatments like the Revolutions podcast. Plus I'm sure being older and more aware of how politics work on a human level.

It's been quite a long time and my memory is vague, but I feel like it never happened in primary/secondary school. There was a big gulf from the "history survey" courses and "our world". It never really captured my attention, and I suspect that may be why.

And not just in a vague way, but in a concrete way. EG, "You can see similar challenges in today's US democratic party and the political vs social/economic revolutionaries in 19th century Europe" or "These are the concrete steps of governmental coups you can see from these events reflected today"
