with all the updates about kindle and amazon: a reminder that I and many other self pub authors have books on platforms other than amz! this is a super important topic to me as an indie bookseller, but in most conversations, I've noticed people assume there are no other avenues for self pub authors

So, I realized this week that not only am I unable to go back to occupational therapy because of my health, but I...don't want to? I don't want to have to pay for licensing fees and CEUs led by predominantly straight white women. 1/4

I realized today that this fight is not my fight. (Thank you @tabithaspeaks.bsky.social.) I have spent almost a decade fighting this fight. I fought this fight to a profession that is still predominantly white (women). We aren't supposed to still be having this fight. 1/3

Twitch was the last place I had not fully diversified. I've been following queer folks and disabled folks but they have largely been white. We're done with that. I'm getting my representation everywhere I can thank you. No offense to the white people I like but....I'm sick of white people.

I managed to listen to about 25 minutes of an audiobook today! While that may not seem like much, it's a pretty big accomplishment given how horrible my sleep has been and how overwhelmed I've felt. Taking back some of my time and energy for myself.

There are people who assume those with disabilities are faking. That we’re scamming the system somehow. That it’s “fun” to be disabled. They never seem to consider that most of us are faking being well. We put on a smile and a brave face & push through suffering that most could never comprehend.

No one is immune from disability. It can happen to anyone at anytime, regardless of how 'young and healthy' you are. Stop believing you will be the exception, and start engaging in disability justice. It's far easier to fight for better support and treatment while you still have your health.

Please keep in mind that many of your disabled friends likely need more accommodations now and in the coming days. AND many of your neighbors will BECOME disabled in the coming days. Don’t wait to educate yourself on how to not be useless.
