Hey guess who the Times just got me to definitely vote for while not ranking someone else! I bet the person it is isn’t who they hoped it is!

Hey on the bright side it’s not like the Times has a great recent track record of successfully steering people to their preferred candidates.

If you could extract the parsimony and cynicism and recidivism from the Devers trade then maybe you could find a smidgen of justification for it. Unfortunately for the Sox’ ownership and front office there’s a metric fuck-ton of parsimony, cynicism, and recidivism on hand to have to extract.

Someone go remind John Henry that he also owns Liverpool and tell him he should fuck with that team instead.

John Henry really knows how to read a town.

Weird inkling the past few days’ discordant silence about Sesko and noise from the Gyokeres camp means we are soon going to hear a deal with Sesko is basically done.

The GOP/right will claim this assassin was a lone wolf, that it can’t be extended past that, even though they encourage and permit political violence and have an anonymous army of heavily weaponed, depraved racists wandering our streets rounding people up and stuffing them in jail cells or worse.

Seems like Berta (and/or others) have made it pretty clear that if someone internal to Arsenal leaks information that has anything to do with ongoing negotiations they’ll be exiled in a less than a half a second. Tight ship this window, so far.

Hey say what you want about Andrea Berta but just don’t accuse him of not understanding Arsenal’s famous reputation for not getting anything done big and important early in the transfer window.

I think my new favorite transfer window ITK or social media charlatan’s meaningless word salad phrase, used to make it look like someone knows something, is “all relevant information has been gathered”.

Good to see that the “window closing” has stopped all the transactions dead in their tracks.

It’s not wise to measure one’s team by another team’s window. Needs are different and we know “winning windows” is meaningless. I will, however, be at least somewhat envious of Liverpool acquiring Wirtz, Barcola, and Frimpong (if Barcola happens) and I’m not ashamed to say that.

I keep hearing the “window is closed” but do people think the news of agreements is going to stop for six days? The “closed window” is a technicality, nothing stops teams from reaching agreements and social media making people aware of these agreements, even if the transactions aren’t “done”.

I was wrong about this. People didn't go insane last week. I do sense we are getting closer to this, though. Especially with Nypan going to City today (and really, who cares, he's not the difference-maker for us right now). I give it until Monday or Tuesday of next week. Get ready.

I wasn’t down on Sané like others were but for three years and on the reported salary he’s getting from Galatasaray? No thanks.

Why is this a “game of chicken”? A game of chicken implies great damage to one of the parties, and one thus gives up out of fear of damage. This seems to me just to merely be rather standard “negotiation”. Both parties still have options and can limit damage, presumably. This isn’t “chicken”.

As someone who dislikes the jingoism of national sports (in particular the jingoism of my own country with regards to sports) and considering some of the especially lamentable characters who played for or play for our country, seeing the USMNT in the trash heap is rather satisfying.

Sam Bennett cross checks Draisaitl in the back of the head and no call. He tries to injure someone every game. Wish he’d get what he deserves.
