Then you spin up protest across the country where your supporters all go out and mass with signs chanting:
No King!
No Musk!
Wouldn’t this be more effective than playing dead?

What I don’t understand is this: why are the Democrats completely ignoring the role of shaping a public opinion in changing Trump’s behavior? I mean, why not allow the Republicans to shut the government down and then aggressively explain WHY they had to do it - it’s because : No King! No Musk!

News flash...Democratic Senators are almost all part of the 1%. They could care less about the price of goods as they can absorb inflationary changes without any actual suffering.
Their decision is telling all Americans that they DO NOT CARE. They are really no different than Republicans.

So what do you think about the fact that your colleagues are going to help the Republicans pass this piece of garbage? Any words for them?

I'm starting to think that they understand it, but that they don't really care since they are all so rich that none of this will actually impact their quality of life or the lives of their families.
The Democratic Party is dead...

You may consider them "your party," but they only care about themselves. They don't care about you.
The Democratic Party has failed MISERABLY at dealing with Trump. They have been screaming about how he is a threat to Democracy for years yet they have completely failed at countering him.
Ugh...

No, what you are going to see is an America that functions like a developing country. Where all the wealth is held in the hands of a small percentage of the population that lives in luxury while everyone else lives in squalor. That is what the Republicans and Trump are pushing for.

It looks to me like he is betting that the Democratic Party as we have known it is dead.
If the Senate Dems vote for the CR he will be proven correct.
He is planning for his future.

My money is on all of these Republican politicians being completely fine crashing the markets because they can LEGALLY trade on insider information and are going to make
"investments" right before Trump announces a "rescue package." Just like he did during COVID.

The only way to wake people up is for them to feel pain.
The pain is only starting.
Federal spending is a massive driver of economic activity. Government spends vast sums on goods and services from private entities
Govt employees spend their salaries at private businesses.

I do think folks really haven't thought all that hard about what happens if you suck $1tn of payments out of the economy, have a trade war with all your allies at the same time, and force Europe to massively redirect consumer spending to defense spending all at the same time
