A new Python toolbox called HSSM simplifies working with Hierarchical Sequential Sampling Models (HSSMs) to understand how we accumulate evidence and make choices. Built on PyMC, Bambi, & ArviZ. Check it out! #cognitivescience #python #decisionmaking edspace.american.edu/openbehavior...

🧐Want to dive deeper into Open Hardware (OH)? 💡Are you trying to start or improve your own OH? 🥳Whatever the case, Open Science Office Hours is here to help! 🗓️Book now a one-on-one meeting with André, founder of the Open Neuroscience initiative, and expert of the month 🔗Link and more details 👇

Gearing up for the EURON PhD Days! The grid below shows components of a neuroethological experiment. What tools do you currently use and which do you wish you had? @chucklescience.bsky.social will help you complete the picture and demo ephys, miniscope and behavioral tools on Friday. See you there!

Looking forward to the @winter_brain meeting this weekend! We are presenting a poster on OpenBehavior on Saturday and Jensen Palmer is speaking in a workshop on Monday on RL and DDMs. Files and data for her talk are available here: github.com/LaubachLab/W...

Attention #Miniscope and #neuropixels users! We recently published updates to our OpenEphys.Miniscope and OpenEphys.Onix1 Bonsai (bonsai-rx.org) libraries - make sure you update! Release notes are here: github.com/open-ephys/b... and github.com/open-ephys/b....

I am thrilled to announce that Rich Kramer and I are co-directing a BRAND NEW hands-on visual neuroscience course at the MBL. August 1-16, 2025. Details in this flyer. Trainees please apply. And everyone, please spread the word!

Interested in understanding how things work? In particular the tools you use to study the brain? Join us at TENSS 2025 where we brainstorm ideas, build and debug microscopes, electrophysiology and behavior rigs amidst the picturesque Transylvanian hills! tenss.ro Apply by: February 16th!

Version 0.4.1 of the ONIX Bonsai package is now available in the Bonsai package manager. It includes a greatly improved GUI for designing stimuli with the 32-channel RHS2116 bidirectional headstage (coming to the store soon!).

A paper about our next generation data acquisition system, ONIX, was just published: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

What a great first day at #FENS2024! Come see the open source tools we make in action: our extracellular ephys acquisition board, the UCLA Miniscopes, our new ONIX multimodal system (for neuropixels probes!), the HARP behavior board, and more!

Looking for a high-resolution readout of motor neuron activity to study fine details of behavior? Check out what you can do with CAMBER #myomatrix arrays and our Acquisition Board in this blog post. Reach out if you want to give this technique a try!

3/3 And, yes, our swag came with a datasheet 🤓. Already looking forward to next year's art project...

2/3 It has an analog, 2 transistor, chaotic attractor that drives an LED.

1/3 In case you missed the Open Ephys SfN booth this year, here are the designs for our Blinkenbrain chaotic key chain swag: github.com/open-ephys/b... It's a smooth-brained, analog, chaotic (in the formal sense) blinky!
