That is great work by the red Sox. Short contract, big AAV and it will be over when the youngsters are ready and the player is in steep decline. An extension for Elly or Skenes should be structured the same. Big money early while they have no other big commitments. Red Sox are the AL favorites.

The hope for the rest of the contenders in MLB is that the age of the Dodgers and the injury history and defense really plays a roll this season. Betts at SS,Muncy at 3B,Freeman at 1B, Teo and Conforto in the corners and Smith at C is not good and aging. Fragile pitching staff with aging bad defense
