Oregon's weather rollercoaster continues: Winter weather advisory issued for Oregon's Cascade mountain passes www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/2... via @salem_statesman

Even before Trump was elected, the U.S. Forest Service had planned not to hire seasonal workers this summer and was already going to be short-staffed. The cuts on top of that are what's really creating a crisis I detailed in this weekend story. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/l...

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

This place is important for Salem — we go here all the time on rainy days to rock climb and swim. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/l...

Whelp. In other news, a flood watch has been issued across northwest Oregon. My creek looks REALLY high this morning. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/weathe...

The federal job cuts could have wide-ranging impacts on Oregon's public lands. Talked to a dozen current and former rangers/staff about what was lost, where we are now and what it could all mean: tinyurl.com/3rrsh5v7

Oregon's snowpack is currently 144% of normal — the best in the west in terms of above normal snow. But a warmer and wetter pattern is coming in this weekend to mar the recent pow. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/weathe...

For the third time in a decade, Oregon’s outdoor recreation businesses are seeking stronger protection from lawsuits via legislation, as insurance rates skyrocket. But victims said faulty outdoor businesses shouldn't get a free pass. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/p...

god. ugh. okay. *deep breath* critical support to comrade Pence in his struggle against &c.

UPDATE: 2 backcountry skiers killed in avalanche near Broken Top in central Oregon www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/l... via @salem_statesman

The bodies of two people killed after being caught in an avalanche were recovered Tuesday in the C Cascades west of Bend. No names were released but Deschutes sheriff Kent Vander Kamp referenced them as a couple with a long history in Central Oregon. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/l...

For the second time in two years, Oregon lawmakers want to kill a map meant to identify areas at high risk of catastrophic wildfires but that has become a lightning rod for anger from rural residents who say it places an unfair burden on them: tinyurl.com/bdh3fj78

Really solid -- and concerning reporting -- in this story. “The reliability impacts of this could be very serious. I mean the lights go out. Unplanned outages,” Randall Hardy, an energy consultant and former administrator of BPA, said.

Light snow and other winter precip is forecast to continue until between 9 a.m. and noon Friday morning before stopping. A gradual melt out should begin but it's speed will vary depending on location. www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/2... via @salem_statesman

If you looked at your weather app this morning and the radar seemed empty, there's a reason for that. The radar for the National Weather Service in Portland went out for a few hours due to a blown fuse. They've got it back up and running but here's what happened: tinyurl.com/39uhbz7s

Really hate having to go to Twitter for up to date information on weather. It's such garbage.

Oregon lawmaker cites parody account and then doubles down on his original premise without really taking responsibility for citing misinformation.

Tomorrow's ice storm looks as though it will bring a significant impact, with ice accumulations from a quarter to a half inch possible. That's not as bad as a year ago — and it won't last as long — but still a decent sized deal. Story: tinyurl.com/3hwyymha

An ice storm warning has been issued for the southern and central Willamette Valley. The winter weather is likely to disrupt travel and school. Some schools have already announced delays for Thursday: tinyurl.com/3hwyymha

A "glaze of ice" is currently forecast Salem to Portland Thursday/Friday mornings according to @NWSPortland. But ... the forecast has already shifted between snow/sleet/freezing rain a few times and probably will again before it hits: tinyurl.com/yc4atrax

Fantastic national anthem. So good.

Willamette Valley snow and freezing rain is forecast for Wednesday to Friday next week. We've had some major ice storm disasters in recent years but here's what NWS Portland is saying about how this event could shake out: tinyurl.com/2s3rxfyj

It's just the best when it stays cold enough to keep the snow light and powdery even at the lower elevations, which really brings places like Big Springs Sno Park to life. A joy skiing through the big trees on a mix of easy, medium and some challenging routes.

Elon is trying to get rid of NOAA so there aren’t any warnings ahead of climate disasters. They want people dead not evacuated.

If you work at NOAA or have details about recent changes there, you can contact me via @signal.org (dell.3030) from a non-work device/network.
