Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

If only we could somehow experience the impact of climate change, then we might take it more seriously.... Ahh well. Better approve another coal mine expansion.

Humanity already learned that attacking morale doesn't work, whether by bombing the UK, firebombing Germany, or the atrocities of the Eastern Front. It's trivial to galvanise a country against the enemy when the enemy is literally war criminals.
