If you are a creative in the UK, I urge you to take part in the consultation about copyright law. AI companies are attempting to loosen those laws so as to use your work without asking. Now is your chance to say something about it, directly: www.gov.uk/government/c...

On the first day of #Crustmas, my true love gave to me One Uca fiddler crab from west of Panama City

Low-relief paper sculpture of a pigeon wing. It was frustratingly difficult to take a good picture of this. At some point, I'd like to attempt a more detailed wing, but this 'quick' one answered my craving to make it at the time. From 2018, six years ago on this very day.

Someone called this mass exodus from Twitter ‘the fall of the Broman Empire’ and I died laughing. 💀

Don’t mind me hopping onto this but dark and moody #paleoart is my jam!! #SciArt #artbyjulio

This morning's blue #PaleoArt, for all the new #Bluesky people, is a mural featuring #Squalicorax, #Tusoteuthis, and a school of Apsopelix...

Trilobite reconstruction work in progress: Bellacartwrightia whiteleyi, with legs, gills, and antennae.

QP/Share your photos with texture! A better look at the scale pattern on the tail of my origami Capricorn, aka goat mermaid. ☺️

I find it interesting that people only ask me to tag for arachnophobia but never cynophobia, which impacts almost as many people.

Bearded Vulture. Or, if you prefer, Lammergeier or Ossifrage. Actually let's be honest the latter two are cooler.

Share your blue art 💙 #BlueArt #origami

Please don't call what RFK Jr. and Jay Bhattacharya are going to do medieval. It's not medieval. It's nothing like the Middle Ages. People in the Middle Ages were happy to try all kinds of things to not die of the plague and if you'd given them antibiotics and vaccines they would have loved it.

Less than two days to go on the Kickstarter for my art book 'Other Worlds'! I thought I would share some of the process art I have included in the book, which offers insights into how I work. Link to support it here :) bit.ly/403C70b (MyArt)

I created this painting "Dinosaur Parade" in 1990, before I invented the whole concept of Dinotopia. I just wanted to give a glimpse of a lost empire that humans shared with peaceful dinosaurs. Jumping through that picture frame and living inside the painting changed my life.

Crested #pterosaur, #Nyctosaurus, without, and with, unlikely skin sail. Colour scheme borrowed from Graphium doson (I think – it was a few years back). Did this for a book that I never got beyond planning. . #palaeoart #paleoart #palaeontology #paleontology

Ok, so the news is still new. I have a new paper out today naming a cool new pterosaur: Skiphosoura bavarica (Bavarian sword-tail), from the Late Jurassic of Southern Germany. The full paper is here with all the info: www.cell.com/current-biol... Artwork by @serpenillus.bsky.social.

I refuse to join Bluesky - I don’t want to become a part of a Gecko chamber

Just spreading the word about a crowdfunding campaign for an art book by @alexriesart called Other Worlds. Only a few more days left. 💙 www.kickstarter.com/projects/iro...

I feel like popular media fails to prepare people for fascism because its always like... One Guy and a robot army, and you beat them to win. In reality its almost half of the people around you, they aren't just machines, and they quite like it.

Earlier today I posted “Rule #1: Always repost Tyrannosaurs.” I would like to amend that to “Always repost Tyrannosaurs and Natee” (who couldn’t be less tyrannical if they tried, but whose work is never less than extraordinary.

I feel like the Peytoia giving live birth warrants some more explanations. As it is one of the first depictions of this behavior. To be clear: it's at this point just speculation. We don't have direct evidence for radiodonts doing this. However...

Twitter followers will already know about this annual tradition, but: Every day in December I sell an original dinosaur sketch to raise funds for two charities (one local, one global). I’m considering doing it differently this year and doing alternating days on Twitter and here on Bsky…(1/3)

The Kickstarter for 'Other Worlds', my first ever book, is GO! Filled with art from Subnautica: Below Zero, the Birrin Saga, and decades of my illustration and concept art. I took no half-measures creating this book. The Kickstarter link is here! bit.ly/403C70b (MyArt)

A 60 unit origami kusudama based on a rhombicosidodecahedron. Designed by Khin Hooi. Folded by me. Tutorial linked below. My first time making a modular from more than 30 units. It was much more difficult to keep track of whether the right number of flaps come together at a given point but very fun.
