30+ years working with and advocating Linux and FOSS. Always looking for small projects to help w /planning&promoting. While I am an advocate, I feel people should use what works for them, so no pressure. Also love to play Path of Exile and other ARPGs.

Linux 6.16-rc2: Smaller than usual, but with notable network and bcachefs tweaks Linus Torvalds has released the second release candidate of the Linux 6.16 kernel. It brings a smaller set of change... Origin | Interest | Match

Time to head out for a week of vacation at the beach. I apologize to all the other beach dwellers when I bring out the Linux guy legs. Just make sure you have your sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen and you should be fine! You have been warned!

LOL, I had someone PM me why I seem to sometimes support competing Linux distros. My reply was simple, I support Linux and FOSS. I may not desire to use every distro out there, but freedom and choice is one of the greatest things in Linux & FOSS!

Congrats on the release!

Posted a few times about @almalinux.org regarding clients and such. Started my more extensive testing of the latest release, 10 Purple Lion. Testing on my older but trusty XPS 13 (7500u/8gb), it performs smooth and is solid. It is also beautiful for a biz focused distro. #Linux #RHEL

Makes me want to see if I can dig up any old photo of me back in 92 with SLS or Yggdrasil for my "switched to Linux" moment. It would also be proof I did, in fact, have lots of hair at one point.

The more I play with @almalinux.org with some of our larger clients that need RHEL like capabilities, the more I respect what the AlmaLinux team has done. We don't get to choose for our clients as that is not our role, but I sure to like what I see, and they seem to as well. #LINUX

No need to train AI with your documents when you have options. Time to break from the clutches of Microsoft.

Co-Founding and running a business that deals with helping organizations become compliant with cyber and privacy regulations, has shown me just how bad most organizations are at it. It is scary how far they are from being cyber-resilient. Most just take the default Microsoft or Linux settings.

Some of my fellow Linux users don't understand the positives of companies like Apple bringing Linux into their system. For me, I see it as a continuation of the normalization of Linux. But then again, I am from the dark ages of Linux history in the early 90s. I see how far it has come.

Kind of interesting seeing Apple bring back the Windows Vista style 20 years later on MacOS with their UI/UX. Style is something that comes back around. The good thing about Linux, if someone wants it on Linux, it won't be long before someone ports it over.

Have someone in mind to nominate for the AlmaLinux OS Foundation Board of Directors or want to be nominated yourself? Your chance is coming up soon, so stay tuned! 👀

Testing another distro on my @frame.work 13 AI. This time testing it with Solus KDE. It has been a smooth experience. Just some minor setup for fingerprint reader. It is such a wonderful rolling distro and community. Previously tested EndeavourOS and Ultramarine which were great. #Linux

It is not the size of a community that matters, it is the quality. In the #Linux world, this is very much the same. At the same time, don't judge a whole community from the vocal minority that like to act like elitist gatekeepers.

This Week in Plasma: Plasma 6.4 is nigh More stability and QOL improvements by the @kde.org team. Looking forward to using it on my main systems. Testing has gone well. #Linux #KDE #FOSS blogs.kde.org/2025/06/07/t...

Got my @frame.work 13 AI in and have been testing out distros before doing my final setup. So far, tested EndeavourOS (Arch) & Ultramarine (Fedora). Both worked great, EOS took a few post-install things to set up, nothing difficult. UM worked ootb, exp. since Fedora is official. Love this laptop.

Just a quick "origin story" of what motivated us to start AlmaLinux! 👇

#Meta and #Yandex leak your history and cookies on Android. Yeah, the least shocking news ever, but for those that wonder why many of us have concerns over privacy, this is why. While this test was just on Android, don't assume that it is not elsewhere. #privacy #badactors localmess.github.io
