Jaws is still, 50 years later, the ultimate example of a film where if you're channel-hopping and you come across it, it's impossible to avoid watching the rest of it. It's as close to perfection as any film gets.

Oh there once was a puffin Just the shape of a muffin

Whenever anyone tells me that older movies are hard to watch because they're paced so slowly I just pull out Jaws. 50 years later there's not a single frame of this film I'd cut out as unnecessary or bogs down the pacing. It's a perfect film. Verna Fields nailed it.

Hello, Front Desk? This is gonna sound really high-maintenance...

Reading @jeffsmithsbone.bsky.social complete Bone for the first time. Lent to me by a friend who raved about it, he was correct. I’m hooked!

Today's #SpringStories turns to the cliffs, where Pufflings stay tucked in burrows for weeks, fed sandeels by parents. By the time chicks fledge, adults will have returned to sea. When ready, little Puffins venture out under the safety of night & make for the open water.

okay and here is my ‘sounds like a shitpost but it’s genuine’ UK heatwave tip: if there is a Saxon or Norman church near you, and it’s open, go sit in it. not gothic, they have too many windows, get you some thick stone walls with some high up tiny windows. they stay cold. and you can just sit there

PIXAR’S CRASH (2025)

If you're not familiar with the British & Irish Lions it's the rugby equivalent of when Mario and Bowser take a game off from murdering one another to play tennis or go-kart racing. Going to be cheering on Marcus Smith like I didn't have a voodoo doll of him made in February

I love excellent packaging. Honey in a little bear bottle? Yes please. Cheese wrapped in red wax? Absolutely. Do I want a little raindrop of mediocre chocolate? Not really. Do I want one if you individually wrap it in shiny foil and put a little feather in its cap? You’re goddamn right I do.

The sudden normality of this in recent months is incredibly frightening

I love how the queen got a corgi as a gift and was all "wow this dog rules I'm gonna get 3 dozen more lol" like seriously, it's the most normal human thing the royal family had ever done.

Puffins gathering a feed on the Isle of May, great to see. #junesea and theme of the day #critters #photography #puffins

Once, I had an adult patient die of a massive PE and I had to tell the only family member present, their teenage son. I'm telling you this because the job is hard enough, we don't need the government to throw out Medicaid. We don't need the anti-vaxxers bringing back Measles, Polio and Tetanus.

i dont think he is very good at those rockets

OMFG, the HPV vaccine 😩 Having the nation's public health now led by the world's most dangerous, most extreme, & most notorious anti-vaxxer, one who has made a fortune peddling disgusting anti-vaccine lies, is going to get many people killed www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

People complain about superhero fatigue but every four days I walk in on my wife watching a new streaming show about a rich blonde woman who may or may not have committed a justified murder near the ocean.

'You know, I think that lapdancer genuinely liked me' latest

So, no more vaccines or food inspections, but extra asbestos? Do I have this right?

Watched Last Crusade in the theater again and it’s one of the best movies about thinking you have nothing in common with your dad and realizing you have basically everything in common with your dad.

This is Frank. He has found that the secret to happiness is a couple flowers, a lot of sunshine, and the occasional midday nap. 13/10

I now understand why Australians are like that. I, too, would fistfight a shark if the sea was my only respite from this terrible heat

So @lolls81.bsky.social I have a suggestion for how we’re celebrating my birthday this year.

"Was it really this dumb in 2003" guys they renamed french fries

Congratulations to every awful, evil bastard who voted for these people. May you never know a moment's peace, on either side of the grave.

There may come a day when the BBC puts on air one of the other 29,999 headteachers currently estimated to be working in UK schools, but that day is not today

The €250m €m was won in Cork. Anything you want to tell me @cethanleahy.com ?

Finally, a Holy War I can join

Oooh sorry, this weekend's not great for me. Friday I'm gonna be unclenching my jaw from *this* week, Saturdays are only 45 minutes long now, and Sunday I'm totally tied up having a series of little panic attacks about *next* week so

<Sob laugh>

RFK Jr. to Noem, “Yeah, this is where I live now. I made you some body fluid upside-down cake.”

Bit mad that "website that shows you nice pictures of what your friends are up to" is something Meta increasingly refuses to provide. Stories the last vestige of it

“It is INEXCUSABLE that Rachel Zegler Sings the Song Outside,” says Man with No Plans to See EVITA and No Interest in Theatre at All

I've just discovered Indigenous singer @emilywurramara.bsky.social and her song "STFAFM" (Stay The Fuck Away From Me), feat. Arringarri. It's superb. The music video on YouTube has the lyrics below the video too! 🎶 #EmilyWurramara #IndieMusic #NARA youtu.be/-hI4kovLxjw?...

still crazy to me that kristi noem shot a dog and ended up in national leadership. this is america, being obsessed with dogs is one of our last remaining bipartisan traits

Please don’t ask me to repeat myself when it’s this hot out like idk I’ll get back to you in mid-October
