The Battle of Mount Sorrel saw intense artillery barrages and back and forth fighting. Both sides took heavy casualties and the landscape was devasted.

To defend the village, the 12th SS dug in some of their tanks. While I was on the battlefield outside the village with Paul Woodadge of @ww2tv.bsky.social, we think we may have found one of the spots where the tanks were dug in.
