... posers. It was an entire plot point in a show a couple seasons back.

also, if you aren't finished season 1, be aware that the ending is both very het and fucking heavy and this scene is a direct continuation of that context, so if you dropped it, I wouldn't come back for this.

I can't point you to a word of text, but they knew what they were doing in that scene (and also it's going to stay in that scene, because Extremely Doomed)

Yeah. Clearly there are problems, but if the premise of your story is also the premise of a long-running 90's sitcom, it's probably not meaningfully taboo in art.

I'm on board with any spinoff that doesn't involve Stark, but especially those two

I'm not ruling out the possibility that one of the unnamed intelligence people in the chat asked him to add a journalist as a way to leak the whole thing, since all the proper channels are compromised and the rules don't matter.

I was nearly one of those TV babies - there's one public safety ad that has the sound of me crying in it, then my parents decided it wasn't good parenting. Shit's weird.

When I said I was hoping this set would have some pieces for the Abuelo's Awakening deck in Standard, this isn't what I meant.
Though it does let you cast dragons for free from zones other than your hand, so it's not *strictly* worse.

Honestly, I think they get even worse when they're the same and never admitted it. Because now it's not just the kid, it's a threat to their own status as Normal.

Oh, I know. There's a scene that really stuck with me in the prison is all.

Fair warning, the manga is mostly school life and the trailer's picked out a lot of the action scenes to get attention. But the school is a school for disposable child soldiers, so it's at least a very different life to be slicing.

To be clear, I'm not a huge fan of those branches of philosophy. I had to read someone relatively contemporary arguing that truth and beauty were the same thing and it was insufferable. I just don't see the clear lines that say a machine can't generate philosophy when the term has such broad scope.

I mean, depending what you mean by "logic". Not every philosophy is analytical, and some are highly associative in a way that's not inherently opposed to the word soup approach of LLMs.
The constant falsehoods are a bigger problem, but not one without precedent either.

as a philosophy major, "hallucinate whatever you can come up with based on preexisting texts" is distressingly close to the process sometimes

One problem: From the outside, how do we tell the difference between a progressive lying about their patriotism and a nationalist lying about their progressive vision? Because the systems of politics makes it a lot easier for the latter to get ahead than the former.

Both MEL and MEB are airport codes for Melbourne, Australia despite no airport in the city containing the word "Melbourne" in their names. Stuff gets weird.

Manga end all the time in more obviously cut-short ways, with less attention and fuss and without achieving the emotional or narrative closure that the first volume did. It's a great one-volume manga with an even better viral marketing campaign and I'm wholly unsurprised to hear it fell off.

The whole reason the Spice must flow is because of the religious objection to using navigational computers in spacecraft! It'd still be valuable, probably still be a target of imperial extraction, but that war is the direct reason it's the lifeblood of trade.

One of the games I play would feed their patch notes into one of those and post a curated selection of the outputs as a teaser. It was a lot of fun, especially when you could see bits of the real notes poking through.
